View Full Version : PM selfhealing enough for Epics?

I want to build a melee fleshy with 12Wiz levels at the core.

If I'm meleeing in Wraith Form and have some dodge, can I survive EE content via Death Aura and Negative Burst (maximized&empowered) alone?
EE content would be in a group, but I would run solo EH if possible.

I can't test myself, since Lamania is down, so I would greatly appreciate if someone with PM and Epic experience would chime in.

Thanks in advance!

Self healing, yes. It's enough if you have a good negative spellpower. But there are not ways of remove stat damage (I'm sooo tired of dropping my shroud when i solo or party without a cleric. It costs 100 freaking sp)

Light damage is a pain too, and self-healing is not enough when you are heavily divine punished. and the cloak of night enhancement is not useful.

The healing is enough for my shiradi in EE. A melee will take more dmg than a caster most likely, so factor that in.

Lesser restore pots do work in wraith form and Pale lavender ioun stones are a huge help with light / spell damage. I don't wear it all the time, but the ability to put it on when things are bad is amazing.

One thing I noticed, but have not needed yet. Exalted angel has a teir 2 30% less damage from light. The cloak of darkness is indeed worthless. The neg heal amp however is nice.

Circle of Hatred (http://ddowiki.com/page/Item:Circle_of_Hatred) is a Harm clicky and which will remove stat damage for you. And I second having a PLIS, getting it on before the third stack of divine punishment hits is a life saver.

For a melee PM in EE your self heals are usually enough. Strong divine casters and lots of mobs who surround you are your bane. The first can't be helped most of the time, the latter can be helped with high PRR (in combination with your already high dodge/incorp/conceal).

For PRR slot the best augment for your level, use the sheltering ring from What Goes Up completion (lvl19 (http://ddowiki.com/page/Item:Guardian%27s_Ring_%28Level_19%29), lvl27 (http://ddowiki.com/page/Item:Guardian%27s_Ring_%28Level_27%29)), be in GM Earth stance if you're partial monk (along with the Earth stance enhancers in GMoF destiny and shintao).

I've reached over 60 PRR with my PM with only part of the above, which for robes is quite good.

And always carry lesser restoration potions.

EDIT: Remember that you can have both of your aura's active at the same time for extra healing.

It's fine as long as you're not a terrible player.

Ouch, you got me there.

Thanks everyone for the feedback.

I'll probably post a sketch of the build I have in mind soon, so that it might be sandblasted into proper shape or obliterated into dust, depending on its worthiness.

Just for clarification - those don't stack, do they - a PRR augment and the PRR from the sheltering effect on the ring?

No they don't

I have a 5 Monk \ 3 Rogue \ 12 Wizard stick build that I love. Tensors, blur, displacement, lots of dodge and self healing. I have very little trouble if any in EH content solo.

No they don't

Hmm I could have sworn I checked them last week because I was wondering about the same thing and one was a competence bonus and the other was an enhancement bonus. I'll re-check in-game.

Well, I found a build on the forum which is basically had in mind for my melee Wraith fleshy by bergeau09, called The Grimreaper:

https://www.ddo.com/forums/showthread.php/428197-The-Grimreaper-an-untouchable-killer?

If someone could have a brief check whether the build is still up to date.

I am considering: going Drow instead of Helf for Xendrik Weapon Training for Shortswords and Imp. Dodge.
Alternatively going Helf Pally Dilly, which together with my CHA tome (+4) and Completionist should give a bit of a saves boost, which I think is more effective than a small SA bonus which basically would never apply if I solo or have hate.

If anyone has any comments, they would be appreciated.

That's almost exactly what I did (leveling order was very different though and a few feats I took differently than that guy).

12 Wizard / 6 Ranger / 2 Monk
Drow
TWF dual wielding Celestias
Improved Wraith form + high dodge + blur/displacement for very high evasiveness
GM earth form + a few of the things I mentioned earlier for relatively high PRR

I've seen my hp's go over 1k, but generally they were between 700-900 depending on which destiny I was in.
saves were around 40-ish, which for a non-pally build are respectable, but not stellar.

Worked extremely well (I could basically tank anything) and I was very content with it. But after long thinking and postponing I finally I decided to TR and am collecting a few past lives for Druid now :P.

Highly recommended if you decide to go this route.
