Finally got around to playing with it a bit.

The description leaves a lot to the imagination. According to wiki the mesmerize is unbreakable, and the song deals -2 con every 3/2/1 seconds.

According to U16 release notes, Siren's song allows for a recurring save every 3 seconds.

Save against what? Fort? Are the DCs based on perform, sonic sp, or something else? From my limited experimenting, nothing seemed to save against the mesmerize, but maybe the mobs are saving against the -2 con? This is very unclear. Can anyone help clear it up?

Also, the mesmerize portion of the spell seems to work with some creatures and not with others. For example, it works with the giant skellies in GH, and on undead in House Szind. But it doesn't seem to work on the astral panthers in House Szind, or on regular skellies in Unquiet Graves.

Does anyone have any idea if there's any rhyme or reason to what can and can't be mesmerized?

Now, clearly Siren's Song does not work on red names. I mean, it's for a bard and we can't have bards tackling red names all by their onesies, that would be against some sort of unwritten rule.

But Chord of Disruption appears to work. So this is kinda like a dot, except it's no damage over time and all at once at the end. As near as I can tell, it's roughly 1300-1500 pts of damage no matter what. Sonic and/or force damage enhancers don't seem to make any difference, has anyone else tested this more thoroughly?

As near as I can tell, the mesmerize seems to be about as effective as Otto's Irresistible. In fact, I tried singing Siren's Song/Chord and simultaneously casting Otto's and swinging on two different CR29 mobs in Sschindylryn. The Otto's mob went down first, indicating that I can do over 1300-1500 pts of damage in the 14 or so seconds (I know it says 12, but it is longer) it takes for Siren's to count down to "Poof".

So, other than this effect being a song rather than a spell, and it can run while you go do something else, and it does seem to work on undead significantly more reliably than song of the dead, it is essentially worthless. In fact, I've tried using it in groups and 1500 damage in 14 seconds rarely even comes up because the mob is dead from insta kill casters or 22k damage many/furyshot monkchers in 2-4 seconds.

Is this the general consensus from bards running in Fatesinger? Or am I missing something here?

Simply, it works on orange named and below, ignoring the type.

If you have Chord of Disruption, it will trigger on the end of Siren's Song on red and purple named, rest will not.

Yeah, I got that. But why some skellies and not others, none of which were named at all? What are the saves metioned in U16 release notes for and against? Do sp items boost the damage from CoD?

This is just a theory, but it's possible that the undead that Siren's Song doesn't work against are non-intelligent undead. The spells "Command Undead" and "Halt Undead" make a differentiation between undead that are intelligent and undead that are not.

On the other hand, it could just be a bug. Who knows?

That makes sense. I'll try to test that out more. Thanks for the tip!
