View Full Version : LF: Sireth using rogue/monk/? Shadar-Kai build

Greetings,
I am considering TRing into a Shadar-Kai for a rogue past life as well as the +1% dodge from iconic PL and figured I might as well put the Sireth in my bank to some use in LD.
However, having never played a melee before I am somewhat at a loss and cannot seem to find a build that does not leave me unsure if it will fit.
I have 36 pts build, +5 to all Tomes but mostly caster PL except for a monk and a ranger PL (both done as monkcher with no melee).
I am either looking for a full time Sireth LD build or a build thats primarily Sireth but with Manyshot to complement (I have a Pinion for that).
I am thinking 13rog/6mnk/1dru - but if Shilelagh does not work with Sireth that might be less valuable - or - 12rog/6mnk/2pal for Divine Might and Divine Grace but then I need to work up a decent CHA and use a twist to get turns to fuel DM.
Finally, what are the advantages / disadvantages to Str or Dex for damage and to hit? I assume I will want OC so some Str will be needed but I simply dont know the pros and cons.
Any advice is very welcome preferably with as much detail as possible as I fear getting the feats and/or stat requirements all wrong otherwise. Links to already existing builds that fit the bill are most welcome. I tried to find some of those myself but didnt really succeed, unfortunately.

I'm building a stick melee right now (more monk, less rogue) but the principle is the same.
Personally, I -really- like 3 levels of Druid for Fatal Harrier and 30% doublestrike (Plus some extra hp never hurt anyone). This unfortunately doesn't give "that" much outside of those two options but those two are really great. Plus, if you go strength Ram's grip stacks with everything so there's another +2 strength for you.
If you do go druid, make sure to get UMD up there. Sireth needs 32 UMD if you're not Good aligned. :)

Yep, good point about the alignment. The ONLY one that works is Lawful Neutral. Don't do what someone else did (*cough*) and forget about the neutrality part and go Lawful Good, and then have to pay DDO points to change your alignment :p
And yeah, don't gimp UMD. 32 is easier to hit these days, but still not "easy" IMO.
That said, /3 Dru is a good option. The standard build seems to be 13 Rog / 6 Mnk / 1 Dru though. But several variants work well.

1 Druid is "okay" but doesn't actually offer a lot. Sireth can't be affected by the Qstaff boosting spell (forget how to spell it now). 1 Druid would be for leveling mostly, but 3 means 13 AP so it's a trade.

Well, /1 Druid means:
- Shillelagh (+1W with all weapons up to level 23, at which point you use Sireth - and yes, it currently doesn't work with it, although it is a known bug)
- Ram's Might - free +2 Str, and +2 dmg.
- a pet wolf to help pull levers when solo
- access to Empower Heal feat, should you want to go with Cocoon
/3 Druid will boost your doublestrike, true, and give a few more options - but 13 AP is pretty tight on an already tight build. It affords you more dps, but 13 AP could also net you +15 PRR in earth stance via Shintao; or +3 Disable Device, Open Locks, Search, and Spot, as well as +75% effectiveness on wands and scrolls via Mechanic; or +3 sneak attack die, a poison weapon, and invisibility + 25% incorporeality via Ninja Spy. Those are just a few examples of what could easily eat up your APs. It all depends where your priorities are.
I'd say if you want slightly more dps, go /3 Druid. If you want slightly more versatility and defense, go /1 Druid.

Actually that druid spell is designed to only work with "wooden" weapons. It does not work with Green Steel or Alchemical weapons, either only wood and densewood weapons.

I only working on a Cleric/Rogue SDK (17/3) build currently using q-staffs and will go Rogue/Monk SDK for my next life (unless Iconic Completion is worth it). 13 levels of Rogue seems like a great break point (Kip Up more Sneak damage), 6 Monk is pretty nice (free feat, adept stances, and 25% Incorp), so that leads 1 level of whatever. I ran with someone that had a 9/8/3 Rogue/Monk/Druid (wearing Black Dragon Armor) that just blasted through everything.

This. Ergo, the druid spell thing is not a bug, since Sireth is steel. Thought I read somewhere that they changed the Stave of the Seer from steel to wood to permit druid use, which fits with it giving +5 wisdom.
