I have a khopesh twf warpriest and I'm always reminding myself I have an entire gray tree to increase my Longsword damage, is it worth it? I'm not starving for feats but I obviously could use it for something else, the Warpriest Line isn't all that amazing actually so I wouldn't miss the AP.

Have you seen a single good longsword in game?
I didn't.

Well, around 20th there's the Oathblade, which is really nice and easy to get.
Lower levels have a lot of good weapons like the Nightforge longsword (+5 adamantine, with a nice crit profile and a red augment). Bear in mind that if a weapon has a caster augment, it gets an implement bonus, and that implement bonus is ALSO improved by your righteous weapons enhancement. So in my last life, where I TWF'd longswords on my priest, he regularly walked around with a +5 weapon improved to +9 in his off hand, giving a +27 implement spell power bonus (the offhand always had a ruby, usually impulse for blade barrier slotted).

Another note is that good blanks for crafting longswords are easy to get. Adamantine, silver, cold iron, flametouched, etc, so you can start with one DR breaker off the bat without much trouble.

So, force burst, blur for those without GS, air guard, red slot and 2 effects that are always saved on weapon with weak base damage and crit profile?

While its not terrible weapon, I wouldn't call it very good, not to mention, shard is PITA to get.

The longsword from the challenges qualifies as good, I would think.

I'm wracking my mind trying to think of a "Single Good NAMED Khopesh" in game!

Considering the Op was comparing Prestige Buffed Longswords with Unbuffed Khops!

There's actually plenty of Good Named Longswords and Random Gen tend to be a lot cheaper than Khops, Scimitars, Greatswords etc. too!

My battle cleric has spent years accumulating and crafting dwarven waraxes through many lives. I can't see myself switching over to longswords any time soon.

They're not end-game, but Retribution and Enduring Conviction (especially the older Banishing version) are both nice while leveling.

The Threnalian War Blade is nice - good base damage and a purple and red slothttp://ddowiki.com/images/Threnalian_War_Blade.png

My casting FVS ran with it as his main weapon up to cap - mostly as a caster stick but I spent a few points in Warpriest to make to tier 3 on the weapon buff.

I tried a weapon comparison tool called Barrage testing different damage bonuses comparing a x3 khopesh against a +5 DMG Longsword, the values were always incredibly close, the LS was winning but it comes down to named loot after all, note I wasn't counting Tier 5's special ability on a roll of 20 for obvious reason so the LS should be somewhat ahead. As of it stands I have neither a named khopesh nor a Longsword so I'm respec'ing my Khopesh Proficiency for something else.

In a sense, it's really lame, guess I'll stick to a Longsword until I find something named and use that instead, it's only a feat and a few plat to reset WP tree. I liked the GS system way better.

Link to Barrage ^^.

EDIT: I'm dumb, forgot it was 17-20 and not 19-20, Khopesh slightly surpasses LS and the gap increases as your +DMG goes up, it's still not much considering how we aren't barbarians nor fighters but LS will be a little worse after all.

Also not an endgame weapon but, it does triple damage on crits, same as a khopesh.

I'm quite fond of Divine Vengeance if you happen to have a paladin splash. It's a longsword and you can dual wield it if you get two.
