The official response is that all the money I spent on the game in the past counts for nothing. My character bug can only be addressed by GMs in the game, but only active VIPs can submit a support ticket in-game so I should just ask the community. I did that in-game, and I searched the boards here. Nobody knows how to fix a character suffering a permanent "over-level" penalty, even after unequipping all items, zoning, porting, logging off, and completely restarting the game. Probably because there is nothing any PLAYER can do about it. Well, Turbine might not think that all the money I paid them in the past to play that character counts for anything, but it counts to me, so I guess the next stop is the Better Business Bureau.

How about you take a breath and actually explain the problem and maybe there is a solution?
PS: nobody really gives a rats behind about the BBB....

I'm guessing they're yammering on about burden of guilt. Gotta love the histrionics though.

I believe he is talking about the bug where you had stuff equipped that had its ML changed (raised) yoou got the movement penalty for being over burdened. Normally you just un-equip the offending gear and you're fine, but in some cases the character got perma-bugged and could strip to his/her skivvies and still have the massive movement penalty.

He's also upset because he's not VIP (And I assume hasn't spent money recently or doesn't realize that also counts) so he cannot file an in game ticket to get the problem fixed by a GM.

Turbine has an ethical responsibility to make sure they don't break their product, and if they do, recourse for the consumer. If a hard drive manufacturer uploaded firmware that made your disk unreadable, they would be required by law to compensate their customers. The only difference is that turbine's product is virtual.

Yes, my char is suffering a permanent movement and combat speed penalty because one of the items I had equipped before the last patch was too high of a level for me after the patch dropped my character back a level for no apparent reason. I have tried everything that is within the capability of a player to fix the problem, including wasting a lot of time here on the forums trying different words and combinations of words in the search bar in hopes of finding some posted solution.
The PROBLEM here, that has me so furious with the company right now, is that THEY broke my character. I understand and am fine if you don't want to fix something stupid that I did to my character because I am not currently paying to play, but this is something that THEY did to my character . . and they want more money from me to fix it. In the real world, there's a word for this: EXTORTION. If they can just demand more money from me any time something goes wrong with the game . . . and they are in charge of all the changes to the game . . . . . . I wonder why DDO keeps getting buggier and buggier every time they run another major update?
And it's not like I haven't already paid them plenty of money to play over the years. I played for a long time before DDO ever went FTP, and I have a lot of months of paid subscription since then. Like many adults in the current economy, I don't have an "extra" $15/month to spend on luxury items right now, but I expect that things will change at some point in the future and renewing would have been high on my list before this. Now though . . how long before they start charging VIPs too to fix bugs with the game if something can just "accidentally" go wrong any time they want more money? That's the whole problem with this. I'm not saying that my current bug is at all deliberate on the part of the company, but there's no way to prove that it isn't either. If they ever started doing things like this on purpose, and any company that already puts their profit margin ahead of their customers in such an underhanded way is a prime candidate for such abuse, how will the players ever know?
