Wiz Help for an Old Returning Player

Hey Guys,

I'm ashamed to say i had to take over a years break due to... oh i wont lie, i got fed up with the lag.

Anyway, i couldn't stay away and i found that after a year My Lvl 20 Pure PM just wasn't Cutting it when i returned 3 days ago,

So i /RageTR'd her lmao.

Did no epic leveling at all

Basically, Im having a hard time Deciding on how to Build her due to the fact that so much has changed since ive been gone. and im finding it difficult to navigate the forums easily due to everything ive missed.

She is level 7 atm, and rapidly growing, (I have plenty of hearts of wood)

So to sum it up, i need some build ideas and good advice for a Human second life PM Pure Wiz.

I want to concentrate on firstly Enchantments (CC) and then i guess some good DPS, i want her to be Raid/EE Viable, and also able to solo some EN/EH if i wanted to. (like for example, spamming ice and running in circles til i get loots) like i used to do a year ago.

I do not want to splash anything this life.

I Just want a build guideline that excludes any gear, pots and stuff. Im talking the BUILD. Feats, enhancements, Skills, Spells.

I Still love my casters and hopefully you guys can help me continue to do so.

I also want opinions, Is PM still Viable? or is archmage the way to go now (regardless i want another PM pure wiz)

Ok im am going to Entertain the POSSIBILITY of having to be an archmage, but i would prefer PM. Any ideas? Cmon DDO Community, i know your true potential!

Welcome back.

It is not really an AM or PM choice anymore. Most wizards will have a decent number of points invested in both trees. The only choice that matters in that respect is whether to use an undead form or not.

You can go pure, but know that in the current state of the game most characters are going to be multiclassed. (even casters) Don't worry, no one will look down on you for not being pure anymore.

Once you return to epic level, DC casting is effective for EN/EH, but pretty much impossible for EE. Instead, the universal road to awesome is through epic destinies, by twisting Energy Burst into Shiradi Champion.

Energy burst is terrible for shiradi wiz (when past life feats aren't bugged out and giving +900% crits, anyway).

Necro PM is technically EE viable but so much work compared to shiradi that no sane person bothers.

As far as Feats go, what do you Recommend. So ill be taking Necro/Enchant focus, will i need Spell Penetration/Greater Penetration? and if your saying i should splash, what do you recommend i

The Game has Changed Ten Fold since I've Been Gone, I appreciate any more advice, I have no idea what epic level's have in store for me, ill be learning as i go.

Basically, i want to build a character that is EH viable at least, with keeping in mind that i have very little viable gear now. Even my Staff of the Petitioner seems useless now.

Oh and a quick Rundown of whats in store for me would be great, what my wiz is loking forward to in epic level's. IE: Whats Shiradi - Yes i do read the Forums, and learn in game, but sometimes (in this case) there is too much info for me to navigate what applys to me specifically

I have a level 28 PM with 50 spell pen, 66 Enchant dc and 65 necro dc. I have run every EE quest in the game on this toon with almost zero problems. It can be done quite easily nowadays. First, eithr Drow or sun elf are the current best race for PM's and not human.
Feats I took were spell pen, both of the necro/enchant focus feats, and one feat of mental toughness. I also took toughness, heighten, quicken, empower and maximize. For epic feats I took magnetism and necro spell power and 3 levels of greater intel.
For drow elf, take intel to 20 and con to 16, at the beginning and call it a day. For sun elf, you can do the same but you get 36 point build instead of 32 so you can add whatever else you want. I tried shiradi on a sorc life and wiz life and it just didn't appeal to me the way playing a PM does. These guys that will tell you only shiradi whatevers are viable in EE content are flat wrong. By the by, I still use petitioner to 20 just because it's still the coolest looking anything in the game and I use the Shroud of the Abbott at 28 because it's still far and away the best caster robe there is.
