is ranger a tank class?

you see i have a lv 15 ranger tempest and lv2 fighter but i have like 300 hp while a barbarian has 600 hp... on playinjg on vale its there a way to increase hp? need help on the role should i make it roguish

Ugh.. Tanks aren't needed - what you need is survivability.

What you need to consider: Barbs have a higher hit die. (Helps a little)
He most likely has a bunch of PL's - and more importantly, a bunch of gear.

HP isn't the biggest factor either, incoming dps is. If you have good dodge and blur scrolls, you'll be fine with 300.

As for increasing it... Green Ioun stone (+40 hp), greensteel (+45), more con, greater false life (+40), barb PL's, probably more I can't remember. Most of my toons have 550 by level 18, even if they're a caster.

Yes, they can. Not the best choice for it but with enough stuff it's possible.
