View Full Version : The Cleaving JuggerKnight (THF EK with Manyshot)

Hey guys I am fairly new to DDO and really excited about the new EK enhancement tree. I level a f2p TWF centered kopesher, and after faily miserably in EE I TR'd him into a centered THF juggernaut. Nearing 28 I have been working on what I want to TR into and and Bladeforged EK just screams to become the next "juggernaught"; whether in spirit or literally. This is my attempt at making the Juggernaut only beefier in some respects.

PROS

-THF, ITHF, and GTHF + Cleaver + 4 cleave moves = significantly more melee dps (in theory of course!)
-Still maintains every feat needed for range and has room for IPS
-toggle tensers, displacement, and other buffs as spells rather than scrolls
-Insane self heals. A level 15 BF unbuffed can OVERHEAL 1.4k HP crits and sub 700s regulars.
-Parties will love your independence
-Plent of HP, especially if you take Toughness, ET

CONS

-Probably less consistent than the 16/2/2 build
-no trapmaking <- Can be a very big loss
-it's a tight fit getting all of the feats in. Not really room for a centered version unless you're willing to +6 wood
-Thanks to no weapon focus, you don't get very much from the kensai tree.
-Saves. Their much lower. The IPS variant can pick up epic reflex which helps a little.

Now thanks to the Character Builder not allowing Iconics from using 36 point builds or LRing their starter class, I had to use Warforged instead.
The stats for a 36 pt. Bladeforged will be the same except for 8 CHR instead of 6 (woohoo!). Also, instead of Warforged Tactics and Warforged Resolve, replace them with SLA-Reconstruct and Communion of Handling (respectively).

But wait! There's more proxy! Instead of 40 points in Archmage you can probably guess where those go. ;]

So here it is. Now I am VERY new to theorycrafting and I more than welcome criticism on the build; as I am sure without some player assistance this will struggle in solo EE. My goal in this is to get us closer to that melee spellsword we have all be wanting since they released EK. :]

There is also a Improved Precise Shot version as well. You can replace the Toughness at level 24 and take Epic Reflex at 27.
REMINDER: This build requires a +4 tome in Dex, Str, Con, And Int. to take the feats at their respective levels.
If you only have access to a +3 Dex tome, you can take PS at 9 and Manyshot at 12. Of course this also means you will fall short of IPS unless you spend an ability point on Dex somewhere.

Thoughts? To me, the biggest problem I see is the lower than preferred reflex saves and the awkward fitting of the remaining enhancements.

*Removed a Pro.

CONS: no evasion on 12w/6f/2r

that is a big loss, maybe you can do 12w/6r/2m instead without loosing feats and you will gain rams might. with 6r maybe twf with 100%offhand is better than thf line (still not needed the line thou). and opens the possibility for an unarmed stunner too (will have to fix stats for a more wis based in the case).

The only thing you loose is the +3 action boosts from fighter since kensei already gives you haste boost.

what do u think?

Well 6% dodge is huge, especially when all of the bonuses start to stack up, but, the true miss chance with 50% displacement and 6% dodge is only like 53% miss chance thanks to how the system works (http://ddowiki.com/page/Miss_chance). I feel with taking 6 ranger, with all of those bonus feats to TWF you pretty much have to go dual wielding-- you'd be silly not to!
Trust me, missing out on monk splash pained me but in order to fit the build as a juggernaught with GTHF you need the fighter.

Let me back that last statement up. Juggernaught is powerful. It really is. You can solo EEs using a character that doesn't have hardly any offensively supported enhancements. Even in melee the build uses a very limited amount of feats to boost it's melee output. So in order to beat the juggernaught in terms of pure melee dps (or at least tie with it), the feats in the THF tree are needed, as the build relies on using 4 cleaves that all proc glancing blows to amp up it's damage past a regular juggernaught that fights using two cleaves and no glancing.

It's funny you posted a wiz/rng/mnk build as I was going to also post a TWF as well as a centered version as well! the TWF build would be very powerful using Nightmares as lifesteal they have is not reduced on BF and WF. Going TWF also frees up those pesky THF feats, letting you get ET, Bastard Sword prof, and IPS. The only drawback to the TWF build is bastard swords unfortunately do not get their glancing blow when dual wielded and with EK giving you 4 cleaves, you're really missing out on a lot of damage output- and when you're doing a bonus 50% damage 3 out of 4 attacks that adds up really fast! The TWF is definitely a force to be reckoned with and I would say that they would sit synonymous with each other.

As for a unarmed version, I think someone else made a palemaster version right here.https://www.ddo.com/forums/showthread.php/425065-Yet-another-unarmed-palemaster I didn't take Stunning Blow (although I could have) because I have seen a lot of people die at pivotal moments in EE because they relied on that 60+ DC holding up and fail. The cool thing about that T5 EK cleave is that it does an AOE prone for 1 second which isn't as good as a full stun but it requires NO DC CHECK!!

I have also built a wiz/mnk/rng version for the players who want to use Sireth as well (Who doesn't, amirite?). 32% doublestrike before items?? YES PLEASE!

Oh and thank you for the insight and think tanking! I really think this build's genre (TWF, THF, Centered) will really be powerful.
