I know that Evoker FVS isn't a very good build anymore but I really don't want to give up on my FVS. At the very least I would like to true reincarnate at level 20 and have a past life to get out of this. Is there any suggested build that will be decent enough to make it to 20? Again this is just for Evoker FVS, I really don't want melee unless that really is the only option.

--Edit--
Well I guess asking for a full build would be a little extreme and time consuming to ask of anyone. XD I know the basic build from the old Evoker FVS. Is there anything with the change in enhancements that I should know about that might help me with this build?

If this is just to get to 20 and TR, then it's pretty simple. Make something that can melee reasonably well up to level 12. After that, you basically switch over to blade barriers and race to 20. Quicken, Empower, Maximize, and whatever else you want. You don't need to bother with gonzo-huge Wisdom, or Spell Focus: Evoc, or anything like that. BB just annihilates stuff for XP questing. The few things it won't kill (archers, evaders) you can use Divine Punishment or beat them about the face and neck with a sharp pointed object.

Before 12, your magical offense options are extremely limited. Searing Light is great as an SLA, but fairly poor as a leveling tool.

Thank you very much. Sorry it was such a weird question but at this point it just feels like being a FVS is only for the past life and not what you want in the end. I just hope they work on some changes before my switch to Cleric later becomes a permanent one.

Im playing an Evoker FvS next life so Im wondering why they are no good anymore?

Or is it more than the new Cleric enhancements have evened up the field so they are no longer OP ?

The problem with the Evoker style is due to several things:

1) Favored Souls are still feat-starved even with the level cap going to 28.
1a) As a partial consequence, in order to get your DCs to a level where they actually work, you are pretty much forced to do 3 Sorc past lives for the +3 Evoc, plus a Wizard PL and take the active Wizard PL feat.
2) There are only really 2 Evocation spells worth caring about: Blade Barrier and Implosion.
2a) Due to the changes in mob behavior, typical dungeon layout, and mob HP since MotU, Blade Barrier has really fallen off in its effectiveness once you get to epic levels. In Heroic levels, it's still quite amazing, but also doesn't need the ZOMG*** level of feat/stat investment to work just fine. A 16 (or 14!) Wis, no Spell Focus...you don't even really need an Impulse item, and Blade Barrier tears stuff up like mad. But that just ends in Epic (and particularly, Epic Elite).
2b) Implosion still has a full minute long cooldown, the targeting is random, and unlike old-style Wail, you can't drag together 15-20 monsters and annihilate the lot of them in one go. This gives it very limited utility.
3) Destruction and Slay Living are Necromancy. Without a Wizard's feat pool, you simply can't take the spell foci needed to get these to work worth a ****. A Pale Master with a bunch of Necromancy feats is getting benefit to a ton of spells. Divines? Not so much.
4) Power Word: Kill is not available to Divines.
5) The Exalted Angel destiny has very little synergy with Evoking. Magister (since it doesn't give class levels for bypassing SR) has even less.
