After the latest update I have not been able to get into the game. The error occurs before the sign on screen. Does anyone else have this issue?

I had it once on a previous update (cant remember which). It was gone just as suddenly, so i have no idea what caused it, or what made it go away.

I totally have this issue and am extremely ticked off. I cannot believe that nobody else out there has had this problem before or nobody has any possible fixes. I sent a service ticket into Turbine but was not wanting to wait till they got around to it. I know there are a number of us with this issue. Could someone please help?

Exact same Problem. Wish they would fix.

Yup, I've got the same issue.

Hope it just "goes away" soon.

I had the same problem but I fixed mine earlier today. After comparing it to another device that had DDO install I noticed some files are missing so here is the line of troubleshooting that resolved my problem. Use at your own risk.

First go to the directory where DDO Unlimited is installed. ( For example: Computer > Local Disk C: > Program Files > Turbine > DDO Unlimited )
In the DDO Unlimited Folder attempt to locate the following files: patchclient.dll or patchcache.bin
Whichever file or files are missing then simply copy them over from the DDO Lamannia vanilla folder into the DDO Unlimited vanilla folder and close Windows Explorer and then reload the DDO Client.

Notes: I have noticed that it was possible to be missing one or both files therefore I have listed them both. I also noticed it was best to minimize the client while it was downloading and updating because it seems to close out the client while it was not minimized.

Nice try. I appreciate the effort, but I have both files.

Don't anyone be afraid to try again.

I appreciate the info. I had both of the files, but what the heck. I went to another computer that I had, pulled those files as you did, copied them over and...nada. So of course I have uninstalled, reinstalled...nada. I have repaired...nada otra vez. I have few options left. Either it has miraculous spontaneous fix, or I suppose I finally break my addiction to this game.

I put in a ticket and they pointed me out to this area. It was an automated response, so don't think much of it (other than to say the automated response is good). It said to go to IE (Internet Explorer) and:

•Under the File menu, make sure Work Offline is not enabled.
•Click on the Tools menu > Internet Options > Connections tab > LAN Settings button.
•Is the "Use a Proxy Server"* option selected?
•If yes, then click to disable that, click "Ok" twice, try IE's connection again.

Important Notes: If you find that IE was configured to use a proxy server of 127.0.0.1 or similar, you may have active malware on your system. A proxy setting using this or a similar address might be a local proxy program, but most often they are malware setup as a "local" proxy to better take over the system's internet connection. If you find any proxy configured that is not required by your internet service provider, immediately update and run a full system scan with your antivirus and antispyware scanners.

*Also, if there was a proxy in use for IE, you may need to update the game launcher to not use it either. Open the game launcher and click the button that has the single down-arrow on it in the row of buttons on the launcher's upper-right corner (click here to see where this button is) and choose Options or Settings. In there, under the "Advanced" or "Proxy" tab, click the "Configure Proxy Settings" link and then click to select the "No Proxy" option and click ok and ok again on the launcher options. You may need to close and restart the launcher to have it apply the change.

I followed these instructions and viola! I'm working. Hope this helps others.

@7mirrors thanks a ton. I never would have thought to look at IE settings. I haven't used IE in a decade (except when Turbine used to force me to).

In game now and happy like a clam. :))

This fixed it for me. At least, the client is updating now. I will update this post if I have related in-game issues.

This was the last place I looked when encountering the same problem. After reloading the game and 3 hrs of hair pulling this worked for me too. Yet another gamer you've helped! Yay
