Great Now Assassinate Is Broken

Has anyone else noticed that assassinate is only working if someone else has aggression? I have been unsuccessful at making an assassination on any target that is not already attacking someone else. I am level 26 with 100+ hide and move silently skills. I have tried invisible and with target facing away from me, but every time I try the assassinate the target gets a red eye as if I have been spotted so soloing is out of the question with a rogue ATM.

do you have venomed blades on?

previously the darn thing would constantly turn itself off, that has now been fixed so it will be on a lot more often

however many rogues think having it on applies damage before the assassinate and sneak attack, so if the mob has no aggro your venomed blades put aggro on you before your attack is fully done. i struggled with assassinated unaggroed targets just after the enhancement pass, when i found out about venomed blades i turned it off and assassinate worked fine

Yes that worked! Thank you for the info so its venom blades that's not working well will rogue assassinate. :( Turned it off and now assassinate is working fine.

while it sucks venonbed blades is doing that, it is good to hear you're back to assassinating again :)

i turn mine on for mobs that are immune to assassinate or when the party is facerolling the quest so fast i'm more productive if i jump in the DPS band waggon. so i do still like having it, but it will be nice when it doesn't mess with sneak attacks.

I value my envenomed blades. I invested good APs in those and I don't particularly want to do another respec.

then test it, bug report it and hope it gets sorted out in a patch down the line. as i said i am still happy to keep mine on my hotbars. as a mechanic i already switch ranged stances for boss fights, venomed blades just gets added to that switching.

fairly sure i bugged it too, might have to double check on that

My pure 23 rogue assasin got an LR respec from khopesh str build to dual EMG int build....suddenly instead of being an insta-kill death machine he was landing 1 in 10 rather than the 8 or 9 in 10 he was getting before....eeekkk!

Didn't understand it....his dc was about 4 or 5 higher...

Turned off the envenomed blades and problem solved.

So, thanks for pointing out the solution, I managed pretty well without envenomed blades before, i will do now

My pure 23 rogue assasin got an LR respec from khopesh str build to dual EMG int build....suddenly instead of being an insta-kill death machine he was landing 1 in 10 rather than the 8 or 9 in 10 he was getting before....eeekkk!

Didn't understand it....his dc was about 4 or 5 higher...

Turned off the envenomed blades and problem solved.

My assassinate is not triggering shadow charges. I had this problem along time ago on my other rogue, but I cant remember what the issue was. Any ideas?

the ranged version does not proc a charge on assassinate.

you also only get a charge if the mob is near or above your level, so no charging up on kobolds with assassinate (though you can do the strike then kill them to charge up)

yes it is better, i used to pair with a rad2 greensteel kukri during my rogue lives it was quite effective for blinding mobs(perma sneak).
