View Full Version : CitW needs more and varied loot if it's going to survive

While I appreciate the Twilight and the Sireth I got for my characters, I can't help but wonder if this is going to seriously put a crimp in the number of CitW raids run in the near future. This raid needs some changes if it's going to be run more often.
CitW currently has two major issues:
1) All other things being equal, a player will get more commendations of heroism from Fall of Truth than CitW.
2) CitW is the only raid that drops *only* named weapons, as opposed to the other raids that drop named equipment as well.
The first one would be easy to fix. No matter how you run it, CitW always gives at least one end chest, doesn't it? Have commendations of heroism ALWAYS drop in that one chest, but none of the others.
As for the second reason, it's a slotting issue. Not everyone will want Sireth, for example, if they don't use quarterstaves. Regardless of what weapon they use, though, even the people who don't want Sireth will want a +8 Constitution armor/accessory with colorless and green augment slots. Now, since CitW doesn't HAVE any +8 Constitution equipment with multiple augment slots, the guy who wanted and got Sireth in the raider's reward box is probably going to start running FoT since he's more likely to get the commendations needed to upgrade his Sireth there.

I'll be running both FoT and CitW for comms and a few other things. I still have other alts who didn't qualify and would do well with weapons from that raid. I also genuinely enjoy the raid, outside of the ending.

While my title may be exaggerating the issue, I stand by my two points. The raid needs some changes.

Given the current levels of thoughtfulness that Turbine is making changes with, your request will probably simply result in massive dilution of the loot pool, such that nobody ever will get anything useful.
Speaking of usefulness, your claims are false. CITW drops random loot.

They could also do the same thing that FoT does, drop upgraded versions on higher difficulties. Even those that already have their weapons from the box could still run CitW for either comms at a higher drop rate or run higher difficulties for the better version.

I agree with your stance on coms, absolutely. But...CITW does drop random gen loot and there are more named weapons than the two you mention - in fact, almost one for every class. The only people who don't need to run the raid at all are the healing-specked divines.

No good loot in highest level quests, no tomes in loot tables, giving away raid loot for free and huge amount of p2w in store, it's either :
We will get much more powerful weapons in future raid (s).
Or they lost their mind completely and end is nigh.
Hoping to boost GH sales at the expense of Motu ?

Not sure if "the end is nigh" or any of that Jazz. But I sure would not mind a planar Conflux Khopesh with a decent ability set.

Well after the loot changes Twilight isn't what it once was. My caster, who had been running CitW to get a Twilight is debating whether to take the one from the box or take something that I'll use on a TR instead.

Why should CITW survive? More raids please so the old raids can become extinct.

While many may not run CITW as much, there may be other bonuses/motives for giving away the weapons from the raid (in addition to making up for the 20th list issues...)
Every character that now has a min lv 23 CITW weapon will obviously have to be lv 23 to use it. Many players may want to now play more epics, rather that potentially TR right away, in order to use their new shiny toy...but then you can't stop at using it....you need to upgrade it. This means more time in epics, playing the quests the sagas were meant to get more people to play....now I need more comms......have to flag FoT.....more epics.....less time on heroic.
Before, the grind to get the useful weapon, flag for CITW, and upgrade it was a pretty big mountain to a casual/semi casual player. Now with the weapon in hand, priorities may change and spending time in epics has a goal for some. Eventually, one may see they have a great deal of comms of valor....maybe now they think about ETRing.....
It's all a vicious cycle :)
I know at least for me, I may run fewer CITW, but my desire to run other epics over TR'ing has dramatically increased. My tinfoil hat says this was part of the goal all along....give up on the raid to get people to flock to the epic content that was, seemingly, underplayed.

While getting the loot is nice, I run them for XP and just simple fun.

At least boost the xp. It is pretty low when you take in account how long it takes to gather/run.
