View Full Version : Possibly stupid question - what's the favoured weapon for the Morninglord?

I was thinking of making my Morninglord a Warpriest, but I can't see any indication of the weapons that would be affected except the group in the Morninglord enhancement tree (mauls, maces, morningstars, hammers), which is a bit broader than I'd expect. Is there one of those in particular that's the Warpriest favoured weapon for them?

I think it's the heavy mace. From the feat: Favored by Amaunator "You follow Amaunator. You are proficient with heavy maces and gain +1 to hit with them."
This shows up on the feats list for my Morninglord Warpriest. I could be wrong though.
Edit: just also checked enhancements and the Righteous Weapons line lists what Favored Weapons are for what god:
Amaunator: Hvy Mace
LoB: Greatsword
Silver Flame: Longbow
Sovereign Host: Longsword
Undying Court: Scimitar
Vulkoor: Shortsword

Cheers for that! Much as I'd've liked to have my Morninglord swinging a massive two-hander, I guess I'll go with the Righteous flow. :)

Only the Lord of Blades grants favored weapon.
All other deities have weapon like objects, in case of Amanautor its a heavy mace, or something equally worthless.

Vellrad please don't confuse people. All Deities in DDO grant their relvant weapon profiecieny...it functions differently in PnP but thats irrelevant.

Well, I can't call a heavy mace or longsword a weapon.

Not even a decent high level raid heavy mace.

If you're going to melee with heavy maces on a cleric, maybe look into Scepter of Healing (heroic leveling) and Forgotten Light (epic levels) as your weapons of choice. They both use wisdom for to-hit and damage.

I suspect he's just trying to be funny.
Great Sword is one of the best all-around weapons in the game. I might be tempted to argue Great Axe is better, but it's close enough that you're not going to be followed by snickers if you're swinging a Great Sword.
Scimitar is a fantastic weapon for certain purposes, mainly due to its massive critical range.
Longbows are great if you happen to be an archer.
Short Swords are 'meh'. Pretty much the only reason you ever use them is because you're forced to use them. Ninja Spies and Drow would much rather be swinging Khopeshes, but they're stuck with what the game gives them.
Long Swords are 'bleh'. If you want to crit a lot, you go with Rapier/Scimitar. If you want to crit hard, you go with Picks. If you want to wield a weapon/shield, you go with Bastard Sword. Etc.
And Heavy Mace is terrible. It's the kind of weapon characters who don't actually use weapons carry.

People like Phosphor because it is essentially a scimitar.

Phosphor is quite good for its level, but then, heroics are easy anyway. And there are better weapons. They might not be avaible to 1st lifers however, but there are other good twink items. At 20s, and above? So full of meh...
Magistrate's scepter...
Its not a weapon, its a pure vendor trash.
