Hi.

I am a macbook pro user (OS X 10.8.5) and am having a problem with my mouse.
*I'm not a computer literate (far from it) and I googled hours and hours trying to find a way to fix it myself but I gave up… Please help.

It started when I tried to fix or adjust "Mouse Look" when I thought my mouse went crazy. I restarted my macbook pro, then opened DDO again but the problem persisted. So, I opened OPTIONS>Key Mapping and made a few changes in "Camera", then I scrolled down to "Mouse Emulation" where I must have hit something wrong to make this problem happen. I uninstalled DDO, removed all the DDO related files from my pro, and reinstalled again, but no improvement, no luck.

And the problem is that both left and right click do not work in many windows.
Left-clicking on "LOGIN" works fine as usual in the first window. But once I am logged on, both left and right clicking does not work on anything including "ENTER" and "OPTIONS" with the only exception of "Character Selection", which lets me enter the game. Hitting Ctrl+O works, and in "OPTIONS", I can click on "Graphics", "Key Mapping" and the rest of buttons on the right and they bring up the setting options on the left but it won't let me make any changes at all. It won't even allow me to close the window by clicking "X" or "Close". "Default" does not work either. So I close the window by hitting Ctrl+O again or "esc". When I move the pointer on these buttons, they show explanations.

Both left and right click work on my character when it comes to attacking and "Camera" moves too. I can initiate interactions but I cannot select my responses by clicking them.

So, I have been unable to change the setting back to default, and basically cannot change anything… I cannot open "Main Menu" unless I hit "esc" but I cannot log off or quit game by clicking them unless I click "Quit dndcllient" on the menu bar next to the apple sign.

My mouse works perfectly fine outside DDO. I let my friend log on to his DDO account on my pro, and we saw the same problem persist.

I hope I explained my problem alright and apologize if it's confusing! I am so confused and need help. Thank you for reading and for your assistance in advance!

the last couple of updates have even messed with my mouse on my PC (drag and drop is a joke right now). So I say bug report it and hope they fix it.

In the Finder press command-shift-G to bring up the Go to folder dialog.

Go to this folder: ~/Library/Preferences/

Delete the file com.turbine.dndclient.plist

This will give you a fresh start.

Thank you, Katie, for taking the time to give me above suggestion.
It did give me fresh start and the program started off with Intro Movie, but the problem persists.
My mouse, trackpad and keyboard all work fine outside this game and I cannot figure out where the problem lies…

*I must also mention that one change I had made a few days prior to this problem is now back to original (default) setting - Attack/Interact is now back to Button 1 from Button 0. But everything else such as Jump, Camera settings remain the same…

If it is a wireless mouse, check the battery maybe. If it is not, unplug and replug it into a different port, then restart the system.

You should also try the trackpad of course, to see if that works at least.

If the mouse still won't work, borrow one from a friend and try that.

Check the mouse system preference panel and make sure nothing funny is happening there.

It doesn't really sound like a game problem. I have used a lot of different mice with my MacBook. But anything is possible.

Hi Katie,

I usually use trackpad but when I play games I use USB optical gaming mice. I have two and both of them have the same problem. I tried different USB port, trackpad, my friend's gaming mouse but no luck… So, that makes me believe it's not the mice. I checked into System Preferences but nothing strange in there, either.

On my friend's PC, I can log on and play the game just fine. We figured, on his PC, under my account, his Key Mapping settings are in effect. So, we also thought it might be my macbook pro but then it lets me click on my character in the character selection screen and enter the game, and my character also attacks and initiates interaction when clicking left button…and that makes us confused... Turbine Customer Support told me to try "Enter (return)" on my keyboard but that doesn't work, either.

Hi,

Since my MBP is fairly new, and I decided to reset it to the factory setting.
(I guess I was lucky and this is not an easy option for everyone...)
Then the mouse and trackpad both worked perfectly fine.
So, it might have been my MBP which was acting up after I hit something in Key Mapping.
But then again, I am not a computer literate, so I am not certain.

I also installed OS X Mavericks, and the program/mouse/trackpad all work fine.

I made changes in Key Mapping, but left Mouse Emulation untouched this time...

Thank you, Katie & EnziteBob for your comments and help.

I got so annoyed with the wireless mouse that I decided to buy a wired mouse, I just found it hard to play with, I'd be playing and next thing the slightest finger gesture I had swiped screens on to another app or Finder. I love the mouse for general use . I now use a Logitech G500 and it's just awesome you can custom weight it and it fits in the hand like a glove ( I have big hands so some of these smaller mouses are awkward for me)
