I'm thinking about learning Japanese at some point in the future, so I downloaded the Google IME (program for typing kana/kanji on a normal keyboard) but the problem I've run into is that DDO (unlike every other program I've run since the download) uses that as my default language so every single time I want to put something in a text or number field I have to switch back to Roman characters. It's quite annoying so does anyone know how to change it so DDO will use the same default as the rest of my computer?

I just found something in UserPreferences.ini which might apply. It is located in the "My Documents/Dungeons and Dragons Online" folder.
There is an entry in mine:
[International]
UseIME=False
Check to see if that was changed to "True" and if so, change it to "False".
I have no idea if that will actually work, but it certainly can't hurt to check.

As an FYI, you will probably have issue with party chat regardless. Seeing that IME works with a local text display, and you are sending messages across a server to another computer that has a different language, the characters will not translate well.
The DDO client can (maybe) do stuff in multiple languages from a server. The chat, however, doesn’t auto-translate for you.

That would probably make too much sense, mine's also set to False.

Maybe you misunderstood, I want DDO to use regular English like my other programs, it's the only one that thinks the IME is the default.

League of Legends has this problem as well. I'm going to guess that when the game starts it's somehow activating the hotkey switch on the Google IME language bar. It's likely related to mapping the shift key somehow. I've yet to discover any work around other than using the language bar to set it back to Roman characters. Sorry I can't be of more assistance.
