View Full Version : What is considered high for bard hp?

Probably a stupid question, but I still find myself struggling to reach the high amount of HP some bards seem to reach (many are splashes and therefore it makes sense, to a degree). Given I do put the better stock of attribute points into charisma throughout the 20 heroic levels, often tossing 1 or 2 into constitution. Also, I have false life +40, vitality +20, and elemental +20 items. My constitution at the moment sits at a 32, and being a drow I don't think that's terrible. Considering my dodge bns is 12%, and have perm blur/incorp at 30% and displacement spell, I'm not getting hit as much as I used to, and with over 100% fort and saves in the 50 range, spells/crits/SA aren't doing a whole lot. Rarely will something actually incapacitate me (on EH). EE I'm sure is an entirely different beast to deal with.

All this to say I sit at 600 or so HP in epic levels. I did trade toughness for a spell oriented feat, seeing as it only adds 30 hp when capped (which, to me, feels sort of like a waste of a valuable feat slot that is oh so difficult to decide on with a bard). My base con is not quite high enough to be able to take epic toughness either, which the combination of both would make expending the first feat more worthwhile, imho.

Any help is appreciated. The build is great fun on EH and below, I haven't seriously attempted EE at all and even the pugs I have run are usually EH. I'm sure she's "gimp" but I can't help but really enjoy this style of play (DCs @ 50 enchantment, excels at CC/healing and is moderately ok at melee thanks to sonic debuffs, reign, IC/PA, and a few decent weapons).

Thanks!

well theirs 45 from a gs, 60 from LD or 100 from fotw.

+5 (+3 more then rage) from primal scream.

Then theirs the +9 and 10 con on vender trash.

Toughness would add 30 points.

umm exceptional or insightful whatever +3 con available on a few slots.

If you were a melee bard, tenser gives extra stacking con as well but that doesn't play the nicest with casting.

Of course while high hp is nice, what really saves you is high prr. Eventually the mob will get lucky outbeating 4 different rolls to hit you and losing 150 to 250 hp isn't fun.

Ah yes, PRR. Right now mine is paltry, sitting no higher than 25 when buffed, I'll need to remedy that one...

Good HP suggestions. I'm working on a few with twists currently :)

Thanks for the info. Mine is exceeding 600 now without temp hp @ 26. I'm almost exclusively running around in fatesinger, which is notoriously low on the hp bumps. Might be a while until I unlock the primal sphere anyway, so I best get used to it...
