Newbie here, and green as grass. I've created my character three times now and done several little quests, but when I have to quit and I come back and login, my character isn't listed under my name, I have to start from scratch each and every time, what am I doing wrong? Please don't flame, I'm a console gamer naturally but this is my very first MMO/ PC game. any help would be great.

Are you accidentally selecting a character free server each time?

Make sure you are logging into the same server/world every time. Also, make sure you are using the same account login. No need to recreate that every time.

I'm unsure, I log in from my laptop and it pulls up my character select screen and Linnica is deleted every time. it always asks me to create a new one. :(

Characters are specific to each server. Just select the same server each time.

I usually select the first world, but sometimes it wont allow me to log in, but before I select which world(Server) to log into, it asks me to recreate a character despite that I log into the same account.

When you log in, you get a choice of several servers.

Argonesson, Wayfinder, Ghallanda, Thelanis, Orien, etc.

Make sure you choose the one on which you created the character.

There's a little check box under the Password box entitled "Enter last played world "[Server_Name]". Check that box and you'll always go to the correct server once you figure out where you parked your character(s).

There is if you go into options and deselect "Keep Launcher Open"

The launcher list where you select your server should also tell you how many days its been since you last logged into each. You can use that to figure out which server you played on last, too, although you should just remember the name, really.

Sorry, I forgot I enabled that. I was so used to it being there before U19 the oversight rather escaped me.

You have to uncheck "Allow multiple game instances" under Options for it to appear. That will, of course, disable native multiboxing.

Yeh, most of us are in the same boat. check the box anyways (click only ONCE!). The box will be checked even though the checkmark is invisible. Bad launcher updates are bad. We've asked for a fix many times, but... well.... Turbine.

Linnica is not on Argonesson.
Linnica is not on Cannith.
Linnica is not on Orien.
Linnica is not on Sarlona.
Linnica is not on Thelanis.
Linnica is not on Wayfinder.

A linnica is on Ghallanda, but that is all I can see. No character class even listed. Deleted maybe, but still in the sytem?

Greetings OP,

If you want to use that name on all the servers create a charecter on each one. I remember a post a ways back where a fella was upset somebody else used his name on another server when he went to create one there. So if you want to use the same name on all servers, then create a char. on each one with that name so it doesn't get used by someone else if you're fond of the name Linnica.

Also, hi from Sarlona ;)

ahh, i see you are learning the dark arts, then allow me to impart a little advice...

traps can be a lot trickier to deal with than you might imagine. naturally a rogue is well suited to disabling traps, but it's not as easy as just pumping your trap skills every level. you also need to pay attention to items and buffs.

a good rule of thumb is to look for new trap skill items every odd level. though this will probably kick in at about lvl5. one easy way to plan this is to get 3 sets of goggles, spot, search and disable. the auction house is normally best for this, just sort items by buyout to spot the bargains.

when you get to stormreach harbour make your way to the market and buy 5-10 pots of fox's cunning. if you can't search for the trap box neck a pot then try again. fox's cunning gives you +4 to INT, which translates to +2 to both search and disable. these pots will eventually be replaced when you can get a good INT item.

at lvl5 buy some pots of heroism, those give +2 to all skills (among other bonuses), use them with the pots of fox's

you will eventually get different sets of thieves tools. DDO will read your inventory like a book and use the first set of tools it finds. you can use this to dictate which set of tools you want to use, a cheap pair for easy quests or the best set you have for tough quests. you might also want to check the auction house for bargains on +5 tools, but that is not something to worry about any time soon.

finally i like making a trap toolbar, i set it up to do each trapping action in turn. so it looks a bit like this:
search goggles
search skill
disable goggles
disable skill
spot goggles

note the disable skill is optional as you can just use the interact button when you have the trap box selected. also note the final spot goggles is to get you ready to spot the next trap. that bar will change over time, for example at lvl20 i only have the search skill, disable goggles then deadly goggles because both search and spot are on named items leaving me free to slot some DPS goggles as i quest.

When you see Crystal Cove announced, make haste to get thee hence and craft up a Treasure Hunter's Spyglass for every level range you can. Even now, there's really nothing to compare as a swap-in item for a trapper at heroic levels.

especially the lvl16 (first to get true seeing) and lvl20 (exceptional INT)!

oh, more rogue advice, make sure you are taking max ranks in UMD. that will eventually let you self heal for a decent amount and even raise dead party members!

Let me know when you settle on a name on Thelanis. I have a starter kit ready for you (Stacks of Potions you will need/find useful and a Bottle of Air (http://ddowiki.com/page/Item:Bottle_of_Air) It's a Trinket that lets you breathe underwater, it's a little dinged up, but still servicable).

Tried sending them to you earlier, but...
