MABAR, when does it start??

I was wondering if anyone could tell me when the Mabar event starts this year (2013) I was hoping to complete the event before I TR'd my toons, but reading the DDO CHRONICLE and searching the forums yielded no easy answers.

Is this a secret? Has the event been cancelled? Any information would be greatly appreciated~!

p.s. I had heard the event was suppose to run 10 days.. which if it ended on the day after Halloween, then that means it should have started today (the 21st and ran thru the 31st)

the consensus is that Mabar happened on the 25th last year (which was a thursday)
people are also suggesting that they will post Mabar on the 28th this next Monday (in combination with some sorta patch) there is no official word from DDO yet

This seems to be “one” of DDO major problems! They have special events they host, but they usually are running late or run them when they can (due to fixes) and have very limited information on the event.

This one should be exciting as there is keen interest in it this year with the new items. I know a few people who have been checking on a daily basis since the preview, eager for the event to opened.

It would be nice to know so we can plan on things such as TRing a character that we might want at high level for Mabar

And with the changes coming in Update 20 would also be nice to know when that is going to happen

Last year Mabar opened on Oct 25th, but got closed and reopened on Oct 30 and ran until Nov 4th. The encore was Nov 21st - Nov 27th. So my guess is next week for the opening week.

Occupy Mabar is a movement I can definitely get interested in. Only 10 more days to Halloween so it should be soon.

I'm glad they have rescinded the idea of removing tokens for tr at least until after then. It sure would have put a damper on any enthusiasm for the event.

They won't want to announce the date early. If you'll recall, last time they had to take it down and faced many recriminations from people complaining that they'd taken personal days from work to run Mabar.

If they don't announce it until last minute, y'all won't be able to blame this this time.

There are changes to Mabar announced and slated for before Mabar starts, if they are in U19.4 then I would think Lam would have 19.4 up and not U20, so my expectation is that U20 is imminent.

+6 Tomes are no longer a reward option available at the Signet Trader. (Already on Live)
Draughts of Midnight now also grant Motes when killing non-undead monsters while in Delera's Graveyard. (Already on Live)
Lich Dust and Vampire Fangs no longer drop from monsters in Delera's Graveyard. They can now only be obtained by trading in Motes. (Already on Live) Vampire fangs used to cost 500 motes. Now they cost 100 motes
Lich Dust used to cost 1500. Now they cost 200 motes.
If a Spectral Dragon fight fails because an Altar was destroyed, players now receive their Ethereal Keys back. (Already on Live)

Everything meaninful is already on live. Unslotting augments can easily wait until well after Mabar ends. And I have no idea about that last note; the signet trader worked fine for me during the preview a few weeks ago. There is nothing that needs to be updated in the game before Mabar goes live.

Also, the note at the end of the single NEW: item implies that U20 will be after Mabar. If U20 goes live before Mabar, what exactly is the point of that note that it will go in effect in U20?

I was under the impression that U20 had more changes based on the survey thread but I guess they went in with the last update, and I wasn't paying any attention, so entirely possible I got the wrong impression :) As for thanksgiving, not going by anything concrete but I don't recall any regular updates hitting Lam a month and a half to nearly 2 month before release in the past. In any case, *shrug* whatever :D .

In any case, *shrug* whatever :D .That's a fair point, but consider that U20 is essentially the "TR update" and you still cannot actually TR on lama. So...in a way U20 has yet to be put on lama. Not only can't we TR on lama yet, we haven't even seen the details of a single epic past life feat.

EDIT: Wasn't U17 (or whichever update epic gianthold was) on lama for an unusually long time before going live?
