Offhand Doublestrike is not working properly.

The Offhand Doublestrike description is like this: Your offhand melee attacks gain a percent chance to strike twice:

But offhand doublestrike is not working as described. It only happens when you normally do a mainhand doublestrike.

For example, I have 25% mainhand doublestrike chance and 20% mainhande doublestrike chance. Only when my mainhand doublestriked, the offhand may doublestrike(35% chance). So the real Offhand Doublestrike Chance is 20%x35%=7%.

I used my tempest ranger to test this both on Lam and live:
Attack: 100 times
Main-hand doublestrike: 9 times
Off-hand doublestrike: 3 times

This really disappointed me. And due to this mechanism, the capstone of Tempest--Dervish--which add you 25% Offhand Doublestrike chance is far underpowered.

Redo a test on Lamannia Test Dojo, and recorded the combat logs.

I striked 100 times, the result is:

Mainhand Doublestrike Chance: 10%
Mainhand Doublestrike: 12 times
On #15, #18, #21, #37, #62, #69, #83, #85, #89, #91, #92, #99

Offhand Doublestrike Chance: 35%
Offhand Doublestrike: 4 times
On #15, #37, #62, #92

Due to this broken mechanism of offhand doublestrike, the capstone of Tempest Ranger - Dervish which gives you 25% offhand doublestrike chance is totally garbage.

Yep Offhand double strike is not all useless its just almost useless.

Perfect TWF should give 100% offhand double strike so that any Mainhand doublestrike adds an offhand double strike... That would be perfect TWF

Why can't we get a Dev to comment on this? Why is it not in the "known issues" list? I mean its been over a month since it has been reported.

Is it really that hard to test/verify?

A dev did respond, confirmed it was not wai and said it was going to be fixed. Was hoping U20, but I guess not. Can't find the post in question, so I'm led to believe it may have been during a lamma dev event.

Thanks for the detailed testing. It's good to have confirmation that this is still broken.

It might be only the tempest capstone that is broken, not all offhand doublestrikes. I asked around about this (https://www.ddo.com/forums/showthread.php/424082-Dev-Response-Please-Offhand-Doublestrike) a while ago and got one report by a monk who said he was getting offhand doublestrikes independent of mainhand doublestrike. It's only one report so maybe not conclusive, but worth noting.

A few guildies and I talked about this last night. The offhand double only happens when you have a double on the main hand right now. I dont know if that is how the developers intended it to be but that is how it appears to work.

Is that with all offhand doublestrikes, or only the tempest capstone? And did you all do any sort of testing to verify this or is it based on casual observations?
