Can anyone suggest how I should do my arti life? ive got some decent repeating xbows, so I do plan on going the ranged route.

it will be my 16th life, so im pretty familiar with TRing, just never done an arti.

I want ranged at low levels and BB at higher levels, preferably staying pure arti

suggestions?

Don't stay pure Arti, especially on a TR life :) Artis don't get very much to work with in Heroic for their repeaters, you need to mix a little something in. I recommend /6 Rgr, if you want to make the most out of your Repeaters. Pure Artis are better suited as primary spellcasters, with the new SLAs...and even then, I'd splash /2 Rogue or Monk for Evasion.

You wont get BB with a /6 Rgr splash, but that's OK for a couple reasons:

1) You don't get a third L6 spell slot till Arti 19, and you'll want to slot Reconstruct and Deadly Weapons first, unless you just want to scroll Reconstruct (but then you lose Attach Weapons). And TRs don't ever make it to L19, they bank 18 to 20. And even if you do free up a slot, you probably want to slot Tac Det before BB anyway, so BB is really for Epic only.
2) BB doesn't work as nicely on a ranged char as it does with melee Divines. Its just a lot tougher to kite them back and forth through the BB while you're maintaining more than melee distance.
3) Sniper Shot with Repeaters, plus 3d6 sneak die and increased PBS range, is more awesomeness than BB, for zero SP cost.
4) In Heroic, repeaters work REALLY well with CC effects. Paralyzing, Nightshade Venom, etc. And, obviously, CCed mobs don't proc your BB.

I ended up pure arti, was easier than I thought. I'm not sure why you say that BB doesn't work as well on ranged characters, because it's really easy to throw a BB (max and empowered) and then kite them through it while shooting them.

arti was my last life before going completionist, so, next Friday, ill TR again, as soon as my timer is up.

I didn't say it was impossible, I just said it didn't work as nice :)

On a melee char, you can kite them back and forth over a very short distance....just walk a little out of the BB, then back into the BB. Since you're in melee, you don't have to maintain distance. You can just hop back and forth across the BB perimeter and proc a lot more hits with it.

On a ranged char, you have to maintain distance, that's the whole point of kiting. So you have to run a lot farther out, before they hit the BB. Then you have to run all the way back to the BB and then back out the other side. That just means you proc BB hits a lot slower.

I'm a bit confused, why do ranged characters have to keep a distance? I hit perfectly fine standing right next to something.
