View Full Version : Stuck in Meridia port point

So here's a new one for me...

I ported into Meridia from ship navigator. I seemed to be stuck on the Meridia loading screen so I killed the client.

Now whenever I log into that character (now appearing in the Meridia tavern), it never fully loads. Most of the hot bars don't don't load, I can't move or execute any commands. I can't even /death or log out, so end up killing the client. Also latency is at 94%ish.

When I reload and go to another character, everything seems fine. It's just the one character that is stuck or corrupt...

Thoughts?

This is my main toon right now, sucks if it's dead. Especially with all that gear and loot.

Somebody mentioned somewhere that they were having a similar problem, and restarting the computer fixed it. I don't recall where I read it, though, I just remember seeing it today.

That was my thought:

Relog character
Restart game
Restart computer

If none of those work, it's a toss-up between getting help from Turbine or re-installing the game next.

i m having similar isues with disconnections lately. what u can try is transport your affected toon either to eberron or FR, i mean via the button at char select screen. this should move u from your stuck point tho i cant prove u be able to enter meridia

In other words, try logging on to the Hall of Heroes.

Have you tried logging onto another character? Roll one if you need to, then after logging in on the other toon, try again on the one stuck in Meridia.

By rebooting our router (or your ISP modem) depending on what you have, this solved my problem, and haven't had it since. Good luck.

I have the same problem. Since the patch 19.2 I'm getting randomly stuck on the loading screen when zoning from one location to another. The loading screen is stuck at 0% and after a minute or two the game disconnects. After the character is stuck this way I can't log him in immediately again, I get stuck on the loading screen again. Sometimes if I wait for a while I can log the character back in but sometimes it doesn't work and I usually can't play the character for the whole day. When I log in in the morning next day the character loads just fine.

I can log in any of my other characters as long as they are in a different location, and when I try to enter the zone where the first char is stucked with any of them, they get stucked as well. I've also noticed that guild panel shows that they were logged in even if they are stucked on the loading screen and never load in to the game. Moreover, buffs seem to be running out as well. I had a fully buffed character going to the quest entrance stucked, I tried to log him in multiple times without having success, and when I finally logged him in next day the buffs were almost gone.

I have also tried to log into a different server and enter the zone where my character is stucked and I was able to enter it without getting stucked, so I was thinking that it's some kind of server lag (my main account is on Ghallanda), but from the replies in this post it seems it's affecting other servers as well.

I have tried defragmenting my hd but it didn't help. And I don't think that the problem is caused by my internet connection, because I shouldn't be able to log in other characters when one gets stucked if this was the case, and in any event I don't have connection problems playing other games, like World of Tanks or LOL. I'm beginning to think they did something to fix Mabar lag and it causes this issue for some of us.

When killing the client and logging on to other characters, I could play fine, it was just the one stuck character. I tried restarting the client several times and my router. Did not try a full reboot though.

What I did was just walk away from it, with the stuck character logged in. Some time after I went AFK, I checked and was finally able to move again. Although most of my hotbars were still gone, so I have to recreate them. At least I appears I'll be able to play again though...

I just tried restarting the router, and it didn't help. Actually, now I can't log into Ghallanda at all. I get the world selection screen without any problems, all worlds are green, but when I try to enter Ghallanda, I'm getting Searching for logon server attempt 1 - 20, then it counts to 20 - 20, and after that it disconnects. I tried other servers and I can log into any of them except Ghallanda.

Yesterday, I updated the game on my old laptop, and from it, I can log into Ghallanda and log in the character that was stuck earlier today. Both my desktop and my laptop are in the same room next to each other, wifi signal is the same. I have the same antivirus on both of them, however I have win vista on my laptop, and win 7 on my desktop. Could the problém be firewall related? I've checked the firewall settings on my desktop, and ddo appers to be allowed. And I definitely didn't change anything in my firewall settings after the patch 19.2 when the problems started.

I am on Win7 also, and that solved just about all my DDO problems from Vista, like crashing when loading into Demon Sands, Necropolis, and various others - it used to happen every time - had a few chats with DDO Tech Support and they tried to help, then upgraded to Win 7 and ALL problems went away - touch wood, haven't had one since. It sounds like a session or something is stuck in a process, or hanging that is preventing your client going on to the next step - I know that sounds very technically precise (not) just not sure how else to think if it. Have you tried disconnecting your router from power entirely and leaving it off for 5 minutes so it clears out fully and then restarting it?Maybe you could copy the DDO Unlimited folder from your laptop to your PC - I can't see it would make any difference, but you never know. Also, if the PC is on wireless, is there any chance you could try a wired connection? I hate these kinds of problems.

as it seems tome once u re disconnected u cant reenter destination instance until its respawned or another one is spawned in case of public instances. what makes it strange is it becomes unaccessible for other my toons as well. really nice for such locations as markeplace or twelve

only viable way to do quests in party i found is to make it solo to quest entrance, open quest, enter it and then invite another group members. i cant step into any instance of quest once someone else started it, while in party. after completing quest i ll let all party members to recall and leave group - then i can safely leave the quest.

yeah i know, it sucks pretty much

It seems I might have find a solution. I have tried everything you suggested except a wired connection, and it didn't help (btw thx for the suggestions). So I went and searched the forums for similar problems, and apparently these types of problems are quite frequent in DDO. In one of these old forum posts somebody suggested that the person having this problem should edit userpreference.ini and change userspecifiedport to 9000. So I've changed the port and the game seems to be working so far. I was able to log into Ghallanda, no logon server problem, and log in and play the stuck character. I haven't got stuck on the loading screen yet, but I've only done a couple of dungeons so far, and zoned maybe 10 - 15 times. The game seems to be a little bit more laggy but it might not be related.

If anyone still has a similar problem here's what has worked for me:

Go to computer/documents/dungeons and dragons online and open Userpreferences.ini. You might also want to backup Userpreferences.ini before you make any changes to it in case you have a different problem and this solution doesn't work for you. When you open Userpreferences.ini find [Net] part and change UserSpecifiedPort to 9000 (UserSpecifiedPort=9000), and save and close the file. After that you can start the game launcher to see if it worked. The original post also stated that the game uses ports 9000 - 9010 and it suggested that if 9000 doesn't work any other between 9001 - 9010 might.

just confirming that manually setting ports game uses , ie TCP 80, UDP 2900-2910, UDP 9000-9010, open in firewall setting and finding via trial n error which port from group stop disconnecting and dont conflict w chat server (9004 in my case) and setting userdefined poer in preferences file solved my disconnection problem.

i m still dont getting why had i do that after last patch while it worked until 19.2 , but well i m not technical type. and just for info the game had open any port in my fw settings untill i set it manually.

Big thanks to all those who tried to give solution:) have fun and see u in game:)
