So I've been playing a long time, but have never actually joined a private channel... So it's just an assorted bunch of Thelanis players and alternate to the LFM panel? Any specific etiquette or protocol?

nope, the only requisite is being polite with rest of players, i mean, there are no jerks, if u're one don't join pls, there're more elitist & jerks channels out there

the objective of the channel(not mine btw) is have fun and avoid bad experiences (you know, when someone on the guild/channel leads awfully a raid/quest u feel less hostile than when u don't know him/her XD)

also is a nice place to meet tr mates so u can pug less

I would love to check this out as well. We're a small guild of "friendly" and helpful folks, so if things are as you say, I might recommend to others as well. LFM's are lacking (for what I'm looking for) at the moment, so a group of like minded TR types might be a good thing :D
