Hello all! Shadowfell Conspiracy is launched, and I want to give you an update on what's coming next.
With Update 20 we have two new dungeons in progress, each with a unique feel. My personal favorite so far is the murder mystery. (These will be free to VIPs.)
Early next year, we have a raid coming! I just saw the update to the Undead Dwarf Fortress Castle set today. Plans are in motion to build this... multiple bosses.
Updating Gianthold to Epic was a huge success earlier this year (from community reaction and playtime). We're looking at more spaces we can take to Epic next year, but that comes after committed things like the raid I just mentioned.
In the short term, we're going to get you more details about Warpriest and our plans for Reincarnation. Coming soon!
Thank you for playing, and enjoy Wheloon and the Stormhorns.

Thanks for all you and your team do.
Excited to hear about the new stuff and REALLY curious about what you guys have decided for the Reincarnation system.

It's gotta be Vale, there's not other pack as "big" with as much awesomeness potential.
Looking forward to RWTD on EE.

Sorry, but I could not get past the line in your paragraph of 2 quests in update 20 which was then followed by the line of next year's raid. Did I read that correctly just 2 quests in 5 to 6 months. Ouch.

I think there more likely to update Amrath it being in a different plan from Eberron would lets them connect it to the Realms some how.
Shroud, VoD, and Hound updated in with the Vale would be better cool though.

I'd rather see another Amrath Story. Harry isn't dead yet, he needs to die. Perhaps have him working with Lolth or something on a plot to get revenge on us for foiling their plans.
Just get better voice actors this time, the voice-acting in CiTW is . . . let's just say I've seen better acting in snuff-films.
EGH > Shadowfell. Don't get me wrong Shadowfell is a good pack but EE GH is just magical. The DDO Oracle numbers paint this picture quite well.
it's also less costly to epify a pack than make a new one (correct me if I'm wrong) . . . but then again you can't sell it again.
Also Eberon "feels" like home, FR feels like that place we visit. if they want the FR to feel like a players home they MUST put a guildhall in Eveningstar.

Can we stop talking about Warpriest and tell us AT LEAST WHAT IS THE NEW SORCERER PRE GOING TO BE?
The only class with ONE SINGLE PRE. It was slated for U20. Now not even U20. It's not EVEN IN WORK. Not a single word spoken about that.

That all sounds great.. But what about things that affect us today? How about an update about what you working on in the patches?
Raid completions counters are seriously broken. Last word was you weren't going to fix the majority of the issues with that.
There are lots off issues and questions about whether things are WAI or not. There are a lot of quality of life issues that could use resolving.
Other than a less-than-a-handful of posts, you guys have just shut down on communication again after the Xpack was released. Not surprising though, as that's Turbine's MO. You said things were going to change but all we see is more of the same.
Disappointing.

My personal horse in the race on this one would be to epify F2P content and make the epic version of the content purchased.
For example, epify a lot of the F2P in House J in a connected storyline (Redwillows, Tempest Spine, Xoriat, Insanity). I threw out a story board on that in a thread a while ago. Epify the storm-reach assault chain, half of that is F2P, half isnt, add on a third final part to it and you've got some added production time on making new things, recycle old things, and still have items people haven't bought if they need to buy the first part. Or heck, epify the Depths quests, but add on one final quest in that where things get crazier (oh god, no, I know what they'd do they'd connect it to the Pit somehow. Epic Pit....shudders).

this is what the game needs, more quests (not redoing korthos quests again... or tweeking

+1 pt for adding raid, -10 pts for no raid till next year. Every major update should have at least one raid. This is what guilds strive for, what players look forward too. This is the main failure of U19 (along with breaking the loot tables removing tons of effects, poor balance in enhancements (see stalwart pts cost vs other trees, 2 min timers, etc), lack of racial pre and the prepromised missing pre's, quests that scale mobs to crazy amounts (did no one check red alert) even in the explorer zone, etc)
Updating Gianthold to Epic was a huge success earlier this year (from community reaction and playtime). We're looking at more spaces we can take to Epic next year, but that comes after committed things like the raid I just mentioned.
Gianthold was nicely done +2 pt. Making old raids relevant again probably is more time efficient than designing a whole new quest. Epic shroud!! (worth +5 pts), Epic Titan (+10 pts for less quests but better raid/loot back in the day) Epic tempest spine (+1 pts). what else is left? Epic water works raid?
In the short term, we're going to get you more details about Warpriest and our plans for Reincarnation. Coming soon!
{+0 pts as should have been in the enhancement pass. how many years were the pre's in production?)
Epic TR - sigh more grind... it will either need to be game breaking bonuses or no one but a handful of single toon players will invest the time. What i hear is people hate the 26-28 grind. Redoing old content is not end game as at the end of the day you want to be doing something EPIC something wow. Not water works again. See feedback on Star Wars knights of the old republic for this. No endgame = loss of players
The game needs a better endgame. what to do when your at 28? redoing 1-28 (or 30) isn't something enjoyable, it's done as there is no end game other than trying to do epic elites. Casters have a serious problem due to the design of your epic system. DC's and caster level are not advanced past 20 unless in a destiny which is only +5 max and then what. you switch to a destiny that can't benefit from that. Epic level should be added to your caster level not destinies. DC's should be balanced to reflect a fair chance on EE. If a multi life wizard can't do any dps in epics except in a ranger destiny then something is broken. You should look at Epic elite and each class and balance what that class needs to be effective in an EE quest.
And changing raids completions with no warning or testing? some of us don't want to go and waste time on heroic raids but the split in counters didn't give us an option. This should have been on a go forward new raid basis unless other changes for epic raid completions is coming. Where is the QA? This patch seemed rushed, shouldn't this have been held off to avoid bad press?
Rant over, we still love the game, just not the change. Add, not change is good.

Thanks for the update Rowan.
During one of the Lama dev chats while poking various devs with POINTED QUESTIONS about "epicification" one of them did say.
"SHIRE.... HOBBITS"
But once we sent that dev back to LotRO one of our devs muttered.
"SHROUD.... VALE".
Though said dev isn't a content dev so they could have been making things up.
Though even contemplating epic shroud crafting and balancing said items hurts my brain.
Also... made up rumor just now... epic shroud has 6 parts!

Big yes for guild hall, but one where the maintenance of buffs are made a lot better. Like a pool of plat it can renew from once you put stuff in your guild.
Amrath? Yeah - epify it but make the epic quests and raid unique and not just 'return' but with epic numbers.

Is Warpriest a new class or is it a PrE?
Warpriest is an enhancement tree that's coming into being by changing the Protection enhancement tree. Many, but not all, Protection abilities are going away in favor of new enhancements, and the tree is being renamed to Warpriest to reflect it's heavily changed nature. This is all based on feedback from players about the Protection tree.

We're looking at more spaces we can take to Epic next year, but that comes after committed things like the raid I just mentioned.
The two biggest ones... I would go so far as to beg you for... would be epic shroud (please please let me epicify my ooze 2 weapons, they are the biggest reason I continue to play, and I don't do much epic because of how outclassed they are in dps in epic content.) And tempest spine.
While my reasons for wanting an epic shroud are entirely selfish (although I would still bet money that it would be extremely popular), I reccomend tempest spine for far more altruistic reasons. The first is that it is a F2P raid... the only one. Having an epic F2P raid, that is already familiar (for the most part), and many many vets who are happy to use it for teaching runs, go epic might just help kick-start more timid players into trying out more epic content. Raids can be intimidating to newbies, and tempest spine is one of the freindliest and the (in my opinion) most loved raids. I have filled groups (recently) quickly with nothing but people who needed nothing from it and were just running it for the fun.
While you are epicifying tempest spine you could also epicify reaver's refuge. Those two would give us the entire stormreaver storyline epic, and maybe sell many many reaver's refuge packs for you. I can tell you many hardcore gamers (many of them that I have spoken too anyway) would have wet dreams about facing off against EE Lich Sorjek. And those who like to customize there gear to their own taste rather than just being stuck with the designer's idea's would dearly love to have access to epic dragon-touched armor.
If you are seeking the title of most hated descision make, then I reccomending epicfying library of threnal :) (you know the soubnd of the lamentations this announcement would make would be like sweet sweet music to your evil diabolical ears.)

Shroud, VoD, and Hound updated in with the Vale would be better cool though.
I, like others, would rather see Amrath expanded. In fact, when MOTU was announced as an expansion, I said the next expansion should be to finish the Amarth storyline. As an expansion, it should be something that most DDO players would scramble to see more of. The current quests stay heroic with no Epic upgrade (except maybe the raid).
The new Amrath quests could extend to different story cycles. The first cycle would be the current quests where players have disrupted the order of balance in Amrath by destroying the Devil army. The second cycle of quests would be Demons dominating Amrath and players must destroy their army. The third cycle of quest would be the Mad Archon escaping and players must destroy the Angel army. A possible forth cycle would be the return of Harry who unites the Devil again and tries to dominate Amrath since all sides are weak now.
I'm not sure about others, but that's an Expansion I'd like to see happen. A repeat of what we got with the Shadowfell, not so much.

DUDE! Let's try slowing down the changes for a while. I've barely had time enough to consider the current possibilities. Poor Ron H. and friends are trying their best to code this stuff into the Planner. Perhaps the community would appreciate not having to hit a moving target for just a few minutes.

Namely= Ninja Spy Capstone not increasing shuriken crit range by 2 as indicated. (displays increased crit range, combat long shows only crit confirmation rolls on 20, or 19-20 with improved crit feat).

totally agree with Amrath. there is just so much that could be done there to continue the story and i think its one of the best packs in the game funwise and storywise. it would be a shame to see it drop off like other packs have. Vale actually makes the most sense to me only because that's what the majority of what ive seen on the forums would like to epicfy. i wouldn't complain about that one getting epicfied because i rank that up there too as one of the best packs in the game.

Might I suggest Epic Titan! This poor raid never gets ran anymore since the loot is relatively obsolete but would be be fun on Epic.
Then over-haul the Demon Sands and Raid to have a raid loot system like the one currently in-place for CITW and FOT. Allow raid loot to be updated to remain current and encourage more running of the existing raids. Also, Epic Tempest Spine for all us old timers who ran this raid when the game first came out.

I agree that the Titan raid should be on the fast track to Epic.
As for the Demon Sands, I disagree. I think upgrading much of the loot and making Epic loot drop like all post-MOTU loot would be the right move for Demon Sands though. Personally, I'd like to see a pack or even expansion that explorers more of the Demon Sands. We got a whole public canyon that can be filled with quests or entrances to more wilderness areas.
*edit* Ugh. I forgot to mention that the Demon Sands could also use a EGH facelift when it comes to the wilderness.

Actually also could be EPIC 3BC or Restles Isle ;)
Regarding Amrath, I like TOD, however the zone is rather dull and lifeless. I mean they did really well to give a unique sentiment to each region, but I have the impression I will get depressive if I stay there too long. regarding the stories, theer are several story lines that are still open. What happened to the Droaam invasion for example and maybe we can explore a bit into Khorvaire?
That all sounds great.. But what about things that affect us today? How about an update about what you working on in the patches? ... No wonder every other item that drops in the game is "ghostbane".
Yes the random-gen loot is serious broken, every second weapon now is 'ghostbane'. Nothing wrong with this effect, but I miss Lacerating, Pandemonium, Incineration, Tempestuous etc. which dropped before U19 but now seem to be entirely gone!

I'd love to see epic Tempest's Spine! I'm hopeful that by 'multiple bosses' in the undead dwarf fortress you mean sequentially with trash in between rather than simultaneously. Like in Tempest's Spine and CiTW.
Simultaneous multiple bosses usually smell like kiting and tanking everything but the one the party dps is focusing on at the moment - which like FoT though I do, as a repeat formula it wouldn't be that thrilling. Can be done properly though, as in Shroud pt 2 (and WoW's Four Horsemen battle in Naxxramas. Yes, yes sacrilege.).
Another pack I'd happily see epicified is Vale. I worry about Restless Isles in that there are 0 short quests. Desert has the odd marathon in eCoF and sometimes Wiz King, but Restless Isles is all about quests and raids that will probably eat an hour of real time.
That's cool, but there's a reason I've only run WGU twice. Well two reasons, the others being that it's hard for me.
If you do epicify Restless Isles please consider epicifying some shorter quests from another pack or f2p content to go along with it. Like Vale!

Early next year, we have a raid coming! I just saw the update to the Undead Dwarf Fortress Castle set today. Plans are in motion to build this... multiple bosses.
As Deathdefy mentioned, simultaneous multiple bosses feels alot like FoT. Maybe the multiple bosses mentioned are spread out like in Chronoscope. However, there could be three alternatives:
1) The end of the raid could be like Genesis Point or Litany of the Dead, where players get to choose which end fight that they get to fight.
2) There's multiple end bosses that may appear at the end of the raid, but which boss players encounter is completely random. So if there are 4 bosses, there's a 25% chance on which boss will appear at the end of the raid.
3) There's also a chance of mixing of #2 and Chronoscope. There are multiple bosses throughout the raid, but they don't necessarily always appear in the same order. Using Chronoscope as an example, we could have a 50% chance of encountering Blood Plate in the STK sewers and Razor Arm in the bank.
My gut feeling is we might end up with a FoT repeat though.

WHAT IS THE NEW SORCERER PRE GOING TO BE?
The only class with ONE SINGLE PRE.
There are, in fact, 13 classes with ZERO PrEs. PrEs are a thing of the past. They were part of the old enhancement system, and disappeared when it did.
Meanwhile, if you look, you'll see that, right now, Sorcs have 4 class enhancement trees to choose from, which is 2 MORE than most other classes. And yes, they can only spend points in 2 of those 4 at a time, but that's still the EXACT SAME NUMBER as most other classes, 2 trees they can spend points in.
Now, more variety would be good, for everyone, including Sorcs. But pretending Sorcs are in some especially bad state just isn't true.

Well, you could say the same for, well, every epic they have ever done except fall of truth. They are all the same quest as their heroic counterpart. And if RR and tempest spine were made epic, I would happily run them over and over again, despite them being the same.

Incorrect - tree's are all exactly the same except in flavor text and element. That's one tree replicated 4 times.

That's true, but it is kind of boring. :(

What if the Necro I, II, & III series were epified? That pack is broken up into 3 different packs, giving people more reason to buy it, includes a raid with some loot that could use updated. Lots of earning potential for Turbine. I like the idea of updating the Titan raid too. Would bring life back into that area. 3BC would be nice, but I'd like another raid.
EE Shroud lol.. I cant even get a group too do heroic elite .

Seriously? Now you are going to screw over us Protectors because you could not do the enhancements properly the first time? How about you leave the Protection tree alone and ADD the War Priest ffs?

For clerics and FvS, or only clerics?
This, please tell us that FvS is also getting it. Lots of FvS players speculating on lam and here that because we didn't make as big a stink about protector as clerics that we'll be left with it. There are three things in protector that don't suck. Divine might, elemental resists and arcane encumbrance if it was 3rd tier (like the barb occult slayer version). A little PRR and maybe some other minor stuff would be fine but the protector tree is just woeful. Whoever thought up sanctuary as a core ability need to spend a month pugging :p
Would love to see epic Necropolis, (drooling over Epic Deathnips (Or deathgouge?) very D&D part of the game. Also restless isle and shroud.
You guys shouldn't feel like you have to do a full reboot of old raids, You could loot polish and upgrade mob CR's and many of us would be thrilled to,just have old endgame re-done "quick and dirty" to make them relevant again, while we wait (a year!) For a new raids.
Also please do undermountain Diablo-like random/procedural dieing for something non-meta-gamey to do in DDO.

DUDE! Let's try slowing down the changes for a while. I've barely had time enough to consider the current possibilities. Poor Ron H. and friends are trying their best to code this stuff into the Planner. Perhaps the community would appreciate not having to hit a moving target for just a few minutes.
Well, simply no. The entire community railed against devs not giving us Warpriest and filling Protection tree with trash enhancements.
As varg stated, it's a change based on community feedback.
Maybe it won't please the entire community, but surely it's wanted by its majority.

This is one of the most "I don't know what I'm talking about" post I've ever read. Posters above me are correct. Sorcerers have ONE PrEs with 4 different element. ONE PrE. FOUR elements. They are ALL the same (except a couple enhancements  ). Plus, you can select max TWO of those trees because the others will be locked out.
ONE PRE. FOUR elements. TWO max.
They are not in some especially bad state (enhancements-wise talking). They are in the WORST state right now.
Also, the fact that "there are ZERO PrEs" is even more wrong. We still have PrEs. They are just in a different format and layout. You have absolutely no idea what is going on.

I'm gonna throw out the same suggestion I have ever since epic desert quests were released- Epic Titan!!!
I also would love a serious and honest response from Producer Rowan or one of the developers about why we are getting so little new content. In the early years of this game, before ftp (ptw), we got updates nearly every month. Nearly all of these had multiple quests (my favorite was invaders/relic).
Once every few months we would get big updates (mods) with lots of quests and a raid. For example, in 2006 we got Velah, Tiatn, Demon Queen. In 2007, Gianthold and Abbott. In 2008, Shroud, Hound, and VOD.
Then FTP began. In 2009 TOD. In 2010 the only new raid was Chronoscope, although we got several old raids epic-ified. 2011 saw LOB, Master Artificer. 2012 CITW, 2013- FOT.
Now we are talking about being excited for 2 quests over the next 3-4 months? With the hope of ONE raid per year? I assume, since you all have been milking it so hard, and since so many other games have followed your strategy, that you are making good money off of us. So where is the content development?

so true words, Shmuel! totally agree =((
btw, my suggestion is to make epic from Amrath (epic ToD)

First of all, I wanted to say I like the fact that I feel there is more activity in regards to letting us know what is planned and such then there was in the past (to already counter the "this is not true-sayers" this is my feeling)
also building out any Eberron content like Amrath and giving me the sliver hope that maybe a new continent will be opened up will be very much appreciated.(and a even greater wish to see a psionic class)
Making certain content epic like you did Gianthold would be appreciated a lot by the community I would guess looking at feedback on that.
finally I now that with new pack, enhancement and probably new money making strategy (which is normal that any company should have) it might be normal that less content was made when you compare it to the early years. But I would advise:
1.to pick up on this again
2.keep listening to your usercommunity.
3.last and hardest don't be afraid to be honest to us. If you had some options and decide to pick on that is a better balance between revenue and giving us something new, then do tell so. It is users knowing so and your side being mum about it that annoys everyone this much.(or at least in my case this is usually true)

All the development man-hours apparently are going to re-doing the enhancements and Epic Reincarnation. My questions for the players are these:
1. Would you rather see NEW content(not epicced old content) or Epic reincarnation?
2. Would you rather see new raids or new 6 player content next?
3. Would you rather see new content or epicced old content?
My answers are these:
1. New content
2. Raids
3. New content
I liked the pre-expansion method of getting new packs every 3-4 months. I don't mind paying for expansions(I have a premium account, so I will be paying either way.) But, I want something shiny and new to see and do on a fairly regular basis.

Good questions, susie. My order of importance would be:
1) Bring all level 17+ raids up to ML25 versions to provide an extensive almost-endgame
2) Add new quests
3) Add new raids to provide a true endgame
4) Epic TR
For example, if alchemical items gave 120 spellpower plus maybe an extra augment slot or two, they would be perfectly viable caster sticks IMO. Maybe that glaciation set from (VOD? HOX? I forget) could be a nice endgame water savant set, and surely ML25 versions of the levik's set could be sweet for tanks.
ML25 greensteel? *drool*
ML25 abishai set? Yes please!
ML25 marilith chain, sure, why not.
ML25 TOD sets, now we're talking.
Minimal development time for maximum endgame content increase.

Epic pit sounds Awesome!! add a couple of pit fiends and you got lots of fun!

I strongly suspect we're going to be up to level-cap 30 in the mid-term future, so while I would love to see the old endgame raids brought up to a new endgame level, I don't see any point in ML25 versions. I doubt the development time would be that "minimal", considering how much work they had to put in over the years tweaking the difficulty of some of these raids so people would stop complaining they were too easy/too hard. And that means it would be a lot of effort for a temporary fix.
So, I'd rather see them settle on a new endgame cap first, and then bring the raids up to that level.

No need to strongly suspect it has already been announced that level 30 is planned for late next year.
Just to give some insight, our next raid (coming out early in 2014) will be balanced to level 30. Lots of dracoliches.
We plan to raise the level cap to 30 at the end of 2014, and keep it there for the extended future.

Just noticed this comment, and offhand I disagree with it. "Offhand" because I haven't played a Sorc to high levels and don't consider myself an expert.
Today I went back to my level 5 Sorc for the first time since the update, to check out the enhancement trees. What I saw at first glance really turned me off, badly enough that so far I haven't bothered checking out the trees in any depth. It will probably turn out that the trees contain some interesting features, but it will take some doing to get me to care!
You see, my Sorc's spell hotbars currently contain two fire spells, two ice spells, an acid spell, and a force spell. The experts will probably say that with no elemental focus, this Sorc was never going to amount to much anyway, and that's fair and fine; I wasn't playing her much to begin with, and certainly not to get to high level.
But for a generalist Sorc, there doesn't seem to be anything tree-wise that is appropriate.
My thought is that if the water and fire trees are going to lock each other out the way they do, they should actually be one tree, with a multi-selector choice thingy just like any other enhancement where 'a' locks out 'b' and vice versa. Then the same for the earth and air trees. Then there could be a third tree for... well, something I might actually find interesting. ;)

I am not enjoying this, and am not saying this to take shots or digs at the Devs, but it honestly looks like Shadowfell did more sinking than launching. The small bump in activity as measured by DDOracle was not even within 5000 logins of eGH release, and was 15,000 less than MOTU. Kinda predictable considering the lack of advertizement or even games media mentions on launch day.
Right now it looks like player activity levels are already dropping, and appear to be close to being back to the levels they were the week or two before the update. somewhat above 10,000 logins per day... ~10,000 less than during eGH, and ~20,000 less than during MOTU.
Can the Devs discuss this? I mean you don't have to admit the pack wasn't a huge seller, I get that you can't do that in a company environment. I mean can we honestly discuss the appearance that the game is rapidly losing players, and maybe if anything is being planned as "emergency triage" to try and stop the bleeding? Such as a Server merge, or a quick and dirty revamp of old end game loot and Mob CR's to give us something to do using already existing content, or some other change in design direction (I think BtcoE sellable named items were a mistake on hindsight, and it was something I very much thought I wanted at one point, but I can see how it has lead to far less repetition of content, much quicker satiation of desire for new loot, and thus less LFM's for content. It pains me to admit I was wrong about something I have defended in the past, but I can't come to any other conclussion).
People might not play raids that much, but it appears that they very much need them there around Cap to act as incentive to improve their characters, and grind gear (i.e. continue playing between updates). Without a destination or thing to do at "end game" no ones playing :( which is exactl what we have right now... a 10 quest 28th level dead end with nothing to do when you get there.
I want to stress that I am not trying to challenge anyone, or call anyone out but at some point a frank and honest discussion of the realities within the game seems warranted.
For starters a non "reboot" (just quick and dirty increases in numerical values) of old end game, and perhaps looking into having a cross server LFM system so the LFM window isn't such a ghost town during off peak hours, might go a long way to improving things.

please, don't epic any other area.
i didn't enjoy the epic gianthold that much, since the quests are exactly the same
and you only grind them again for the loot
if you had serveral TRs the epic GH is just boring
cause u get into a 'totally new update' and already know anything, but the raid.
instead you could introduce more places that are heroic/epic from start on
like the stormhorns or the wheloon stuff, this was really appreciated and brings in more varity into TRs AND epic content
the argument 'epic'ing an old area is giving more varity in TR and epic content' is invalid, since alot of ppl who TR already sucked out the content and just grind it. so they do on epic, not enjoying the runs, but trying to zerg through as fast as possible.

...we have two new dungeons in progress, each with a unique feel. My personal favorite so far is the murder mystery. (These will be free to VIPs.)....
...Early next year, we have a raid coming! I just saw the update to the Undead Dwarf Fortress Castle set today. Plans are in motion to build this... multiple bosses....
Updating Gianthold to Epic was a huge success earlier this year (from community reaction and playtime). We're looking at more spaces we can take to Epic next year..
...In the short term, we're going to get you more details about Warpriest and our plans for Reincarnation. Coming soon!....
Thank you for playing, and enjoy Wheloon and the Stormhorns.
Thank you for sharing with us what you see actively doing on around you right now.

He said a raid is coming early next year.
That does not imply there will only be one raid next year, or only two quests in the next months.

I really do not want to be too pessimistic, but with two adventure packs sold at expansion price last time I am afraid that now two dungeons will be sold at adventure pack price. Pay same price, get less. Bad marketing. But lets see, surprise me turbine/hasbro.
