Thought about this one a long time. For awhile I didn't make the change because I had a little but of a rep; but with so many people leaving the game over the years, I doubt that matters anymore.

New name has a better ring to it.

If you want to know how to pronounce it, think "Pterodactyl".


Note: I still reserve the right to call my build the "Talon" build; even though I have never actually posted the complete build before. I have listed the highlights many times though, over the years.

In fact, Since I have been playing, we have had three new servers come online, and I have been sitting at the ready trying to grab "Talon" the moment the servers let me connect...... and failed. :(

Really surprises me.

Also I have never seen "Talon"... whoever he is. Nor did the ever show up on MYDDO.

So... why?

Is that named reserved automatically?
Is some company or individual grabbing up names for some purpose....maybe to sell them?

Not sure.

Anyway, for any following my history, the original Talonkage name was one I settled for, not understanding how the unique first name thing worked, or that I could not just change it before committing to it......and I did not want to reroll.. I just wanted to start playing the game.

We have had DDO store name changes for awhile, but I finally decided to take the plunge and just do it.

Yeah... I kinda like it.

It's something I never saw anyone else do.

I have created a few other toons with the "Pt" instead of "T" Like "Ptiger" and "Ptyphoon".

I think it is a cool way to get a name that is taken... and add a cool twist to it.

Years ago, I was reading a Star Wars novel about Han Solo, and there was another smuggler named Talon ...something....

I thought that name Talon would be cool for a fantasy, D&D character.

At some point I came up with Talon Moonshadow.

I used it for Balder's Gate, Jedi Outcast, Jedi Academy (also used Darth Talon).... Star Trek online... some old bulletin board games in the early days of the Internet. a few other websites and games along the way.

Really wanted the name in DDO, but... the whole unique first name thing got in the way.

I have also used Kagemaru a few times... or something else with the Japanese "Kage" mixed in somewhere.

Which was how Talonkage came about... but it didn't sound as good with the last name.

In fact, one option I considered was trying to do away with the last name of the character.. but that didn't seem possible. Not sure I could use a surname change and choose " ". ;)

Timothy Zahn's Heir to the Empire Trilogy btw is amongst my all time favourites and I so wish Lucas had taken those Novels and Filmed them rather than deciding to Retcon everything {Yes I'm still annoyed at Boba Fett being Shoe-horned into Attack of the Clones.}.

I am not... a die hard opinionated Star Wars fan... I have not read all the novels out there... etc.
..and I accept Lucas's decisions....

But yeah.. I agree.

They did use Zahn's stories for some official Star Wars games though... I took that as meaning Lucas liked them enough to be considered canon.

But of course there is always a difference between what is written, game-ized.. etc. and what appears on screen.

Lucas' idea of Canon is NOT the same as yours or mine!

Lucas doesn't do Canon!

When the first Star Wars Novels came out {Kathy Tyers' Truce At Bakura & Zahn's Heir to the Empire} it was specifically stated that Lucas had signed off on this and that there were just a few things that could NOT happen in the Books because Lucas had his own plans for the future...

One of these was that Luke could NOT get Married - Why It took almost a Decade before Luke and Mara Jade finally became a couple {About when Phantom Menace came out actually as by then Lucas had thouroughly gone back on his original plans and no longer cared what was in the books - as Exemplified by Salvatore being allowed to Murder Chewbacca!}.


I was surprised at the hatred sent Phantom Menace's way btw - Never expecting it to be a patch on the Originals I actually enjoyed it.
Attack of the Clones however was an Abomination that should NEVER have seen the Light of Day!



P.S. You probably won't be able to find it But Lucas signed off on a Novelized Sequel to Willow {Superb Movie} - OMG!

I think Turbine takes our favorite character names and reserves them just to mess with us. They even turned my old paladin from into an NPC just to make fun of me! (Ryo Justice, NPC is Ryo Silverbow, grrr) and Rian.

Yep Jar Jar was badly done BUT he doesn't compare with the awfulness of Anaqin and Padme and Tusken Raiders in Attack of the Clones!

P.S. Return of the Jedi just beats out Zulu as my All time Favourite Movie {Yes I adore the Ewoks!} - Star Wars: A New Hope sits behind Aliens and Raiders of the Lost Ark in the Top 5.

Empire barely makes the Top 10.

Temple of Doom, The Vikings, Clash of the Titans {Harry Hamelin Original NOT I REPEAT NOT the Abominable Anti Religious Remake!} & Gremlins II are all in there leaving no room for the likes of Airplane, Gremlins, Silence of the Lambs, Evil Dead {The Original!}, Event Horizon, Dazed & Confused, Human Traffic, Die Hard 1 & 2, Lethal Weapon 2 & 3, Bad Boys 1 & 2 and Zulu Dawn.
Just to name a Few.

I was extremely disappointed with Last Crusade but enjoyed Crystal Skull because I didn't have the same expectations.

Same goes for Phantom Menace - My expectations were Low because I don't subscribe to Hype so I enjoyed it a lot more than most - Yes it's a Long way from being a Great Movie but it's nowhere near as bad as those crushed by the Hype have made it out to be.

Clones on the other hand is in Jaws 4: The Revenge Territory for Terminal Badness!

I have watched Revenge of the Sith and yes it's better than Clones but not enough better to make me endure repeated watching of Clones in order to get the most out of it.
