So I have to give credit to Cetus on Argo for the inspiration for this. I had done builds like these for Paladin past lives before, but never even thought about making one with the new enhancement pass. I love paladins, and put it to myself to try and make a one with endgame viability. My first idea was to change the Pyrene a bit, which would have superior healing, but the DPS is really lacking. This is when I was talking, asking for ideas that Cetus suggested a 10 Paladin/8 Fighter/2 Monk build.

1.5[w], +1 crit on 19-20, +1 crit range, haste boost, Tier 3 Earth Stance, Kensai DPS enhancements. And I lose 9% doublestrike(zeal), CSW, 1 less smite, and a hit to my LoH. I've never had an issue with self sufficiency, and the upside of the DPS on this build is huge compared to the Pyrene.

So here is the build. There are bound to be mistakes, and things that I have not considered. I'd also like to add, that any buffs included here are easily accessible and very common. I don't put in ToD pots, store pots, and silly min/max type things that make a build appear far superior than it actually is. I'd say the only thing that the common player might not be able to get is Tenser's just because of the UMD check. I'd also like to note that I have all of the aforementioned gear/twists/etc.

Just wanted to note that the critical damage is lower than it should be. I forgot to add seeker and smite evil damage into the calculations.

Also the saves are lower as well, I did not add in my total wisdom mod to all my saves. I did not realize that monks get that bonus as well, from what I have been told.

Leveling this has been extremely easy, and I'm really excited to get to 28 and have all my gear back.

Another note is that I am going to switch Elusive Target with PTWF so I can get another 5% doublestrike which would bring me up to 12%.

The DPS is going to be awesome for this build at endgame. It definitely is not the best ingame, as I am missing 20% glancing blows and Power surge is a bit more DPS than Divine Favor. But with Divine Sacrifice and Exalted Smites I think it makes up for that, or at least gets me pretty close.

very similar to something i tried to LR my paladin into... but better thought out. very nice

Other than qualifying for pally PL, what do the extra pally lvls get you that's better than pally 6 / monk 6 (two extra feats + Shadow Veil + higher-tier monk enhs)?

Takllin
09-06-2013, 01:04 PM
@unbongwah
Well I wouldn't put any points into monk enhancements even if I had 6 levels. There isn't anything enticing in those trees to me. Yeah Shadow Veil is nice, but certainly not needed.

The 10 levels net me a much higher LoH((10 + Paladin Level) * Charisma Mod)), Smite Evil( 7 + (3 x paladin level)), and Divine Favor gets boosted from +2 to +3 with a much longer duration time.

It's not a past life build either, it is built and geared for end game.

And the fact that everyone is making these at least 8 Fighter/6 Monk/etc builds, I wanted to do something different.

@katz
Thank you. It took me about four or five days to put it all together in my spare time.

Yup I know. I calculated that in when I did the build.

Divine Might:
34 Cha = 12 Mod - 3 Insightful = +9 Strength

This is built with gear that I actually have and use, not stuff that is on a wish list.

Cool build Takllin just might steal it when I am done with the Druid, very detailed and informative.

Bookmarked :)

Thanks.

I took some time to go back and fix some mistakes. I take back what I said about Monks getting wisdom bonus to saves, that's not true. Tested it because I wasn't too sure a buddy who told me this actually worked was true. It isn't.

I went back and changed my PRR augment on my robe as it is only +12 right now, not 14.

I went back and added in the Seeker and Smite Evil damage I was missing to critical hits where necessary. Gave a pretty big boost to the damage. I don't know if seeker and smite evil are affected by Damage Boost, so I just left these values as is before critical multipliers.

Another change was switching out Defensive Stance for Iron Skin. Switching Defense off and on so that I can be raged is pretty annoying, so I decided to get rid of that and grab the +15 PRR from Iron Skin to make up some of the lost PRR.

I'm currently level 17, holding 18. It's still very amazing, and I should be at 20 soon enough.

Am I missing something? I can't go into any monk stance while wearing the Black Dragonhide Armor. Says I'm not centered..

You have to wear robes in order to be centered; Dragonhide is light armor.

If you're not going the centered route, you don't need One w/Blade; in which case you may want more pally lvls so you can get Zeal. You'd still need ftr 8 to get Keen Edge, though; someone who's better at crunching DPS numbers can tell you if Zeal or Keen Edge is better for DPS.

Just wanted to make a note that I did cap this build, but I TR'd out of it, into a Half Orc 18 Paladin/2 Fighter. Reason for doing so was that I felt like the fighter/monk splash is a cop out for doing EEs, and it just wasn't that much fun playing something just like everyone else. Centered with eSoS/Cleaver etc, etc.

It is definitely awesome and does great, just was not what I wanted in terms of fun playing the game.

Hey man, not sure if you will see this in time but this is roughly what my next life will be. I understand this was initially built for endgame but what would you change if you were to make it into a TR life? Thanks in advance! :)

Hey man, I actually have an adapted TR life version of it too for a buddy who did the same. I'd take 2 Monk, 2 Pally, 8 Fighter, then pally to cap. That way by 12 your centered with weapons but have evasion + Divine Grace.

I also don't think I would take Manyshot if this was just for a past life. I barely ever use it as is when leveling, with a few exceptions. But I think the Dodge/Mobility/Spring Attack might be more useful, with the +7% Dodge.

8 Fighter-GWS: Slashing
9-Improved Critical: Slashing
10-Spring Attack
12-Adept of Forms
Fighter-GTHF
15-Master of Forms
18-Grandmaster of Forms

I;d go with this feat progression. Pretty sure that this works but I just came up with it now so there might be an issue with taking ITHF at 6 but I think its fine.

I'm actually thinking of switching back to this. With the Cleave feats, Momentum Swing, and Lay Waste, trying to fit in Divine Sacrifice and Holy Retribution is pretty hard. It's awesome against bosses because I use haste boost, those + Exalted Smite don't break attack chain so its an awesome amount of damage. But the Earth attacks, and finisher are more DPS, and I'm really only trading Holy Retribution for the Earth attacks. Which would also save me a twist.

I have a level 8 Paladin that I think I am going to try to build like this. Won't be able to follow the leveling pattern since I am already level 8 but can end up the same, hopefully that doesn't mess thing up too much.

Hmm seems I added in another Fighter class feat on accident. GTHF is a lot of DPS, 10% more glancing blows and 3rd glancing blow on attacks. I'd drop Spring Attack but keep mobility. Stances aren't worth much unless you have Master of Forms IMO, and I suppose you could drop Mobility but I'm not sure what you would take instead.

Cool, that is what I was thinking. Should be able to get the Dodge with gear and enhancements and ED's. I am not real familiar with Monks though so wasn't sure about the forms.

Now I just have to figure out if I can do this on my Paladin who is already 8. Will try and if it doesn't work well, I still have my LR+20 for this guy.

Just wanted to say thanks for this build. I used it for a Paladin past-life and it went very smoothly. I changed a few feats (taking cleave, great cleave, stunning blow) and had a blast.
