+Sneak Attack Die?

Hello. I have a question, as someone coming from mostly PnP back to the game after the expansion;

When Ranger's Deepwood Stalker and Monk's Ninja Spy say they give +1 sneak attack die, do they do this even if you possess no sneak attack die naturally? I ask because in PnP, there are a lot of abilities that give +X to sneak attack, but do not grant the ability to make sneak attacks.

Yes, anything that gives you sneak die basically means 1d6 damage on any attack qualifying as a sneak attack. This also includes the Halfling racial enhancements, IIRC.

Also, at least in DDO, things like Sneak Attack on items that grant +damage to sneak attack will work on anything that WOULD be a sneak attack, even if you don't have sneak die.

Basically, it works out that everyone can do sneak attacks, you don't need a certain class or feat, except you only have 0 sneak damage if something isn't giving you sneak die/damage.
