I forgot to test this out on Llamania and thought ask here before risk having to buy LRs in case it doesn't:

Anyone know if the Stalwart Defenders Shield Defensive Stance persists in Animal Form?

Meaning, if I take a Druid with 6 levels of fighter, pick up the Stalwart (Shield) Stance, cram a Sword and Board into his hands to get the Shield Defense Stance bonus and switch into wolf/bear form, do the bonuses of the stance remain?

Thanks.

If no one has an answer by tonight, I'll roll up a PDK/druid and get you an answer. Can't do it till after work though.

Sorry, but no.

once you enter animal form, you are considered unarmed. (yes I have tested this)

You will lose all of your " I have a shield" bonuses.

That's, uhm, a good idea and such an elegant solution to solving my problem. I should've/could've thought of that. Thanks and +1 for the intentions and the clever idea. I actually should be able and squeeze in a few minutes to roll a PDK up and test it. I'll update with my findings too if I get to it before tonight.

Works fine, the passive stalwart stance bonus and first 3 enhancements dont need a shield either (PRR, saves and threat) shield is rquired for last 3 though (HP, Con and str)

Actually, no it doesn't.

The general Stalwart Defense Stance and it's Tier 1/2/3 improvements (PRR/Threat/ Saves) do not require a shield and persist in animal form as expected.
The Greater Stalwart Defense Stance (which requires wielding a shield) and its Tier 4/5 improvements (Con/Str/% HP) do not persist even if you have a shield equip before switching into bear/wolf shape.

I just tested it out on a PDK (6 Ftr/9 Druid), with +6 Con and +20% HP I hit 411 HP (naked holding only a shield). Switching into wolf form got me back down to 290 HP with both Con and HP bonus vanishing while in wolf shape and being re-applied if switching out of wolf shape.

Thanks everyone for the input though.

Bummer - so much for resurrecting my druid 13 / ftr 6 / wiz 1 bear tank build. :( Thanks for the info, though.

Well that sucks :(

2WF better be WAI. Otherwise wolves wont' be qualifying for any real fighting styles.

Greater Stalwart will work if you have medium armor equipped, just tested!

It does now, it didn't back in 2013 when this thread was active.
