hi all,
with the new enhancement pass, i was wondering if a true undead cleric
is now possible?

a vampire cleric perhaps who rains down destruction

im thinking maybe 13 cleric 7 wizard, 13 cleric for level 7 spells, destruction im
looking at you and 7 wizard for level 4 spells namely death aura.

if we use nothing but pale master from the wizard tree's and divine disciple from
the cleric tree's we could pump up the negative damage, but will it be high enough
to be effective?

the cleric healing for groups i feel should be ok without touching any of the other
tree's but needs to be tested i suppose.

the character im thinking of doing this on has 3 wiz past lives behind it and i want
to do 3 cleric lives but i dont want to be a heal bot, i wanna have fun.

if only rons planner was done(please be soon).
so basicly what im asking is has anyone else had the same thoughts as me and do
they wanna share?

oh well just a idea, i live in hope....

your friend sil :)

Maybe.... LOL, I know it's not what you were looking for. I'll start playing with caster splits tonight and see where it leads. It definitely seems possible.

Cleric/wizard build, let me think...if I recall correctly, there should be an Iconic Superhero well suited for such a build, someone that knows how to merge divine capability with arcane prowess...sure!

This is a job for....SuperMorninglor :D :D

...

...well, really no. Not even this seems to be a job for Morning Lord, poor jobless elf.

It's useable and fun, I tried one out on Lammania. The unfortunate part is that your only *real* SLA's are negative energy based, so vs undead or anything with deathward... kiss your mana-efficient dps goodbye.

Optionally you could also take archmage up to chain missiles and stack as much +caster level gear as you possibly can, but then your necro dps will suffer.

The best use I can find for this build is in an all PM group. Spam the hell out of your maximized, heightened, empowered, quickened necrotic burst SLA and nobody ever dies in any quest, ever.

edit: Wait... it looks like they removed necrotic burst as an SLA from Divine Disciple before it went live? Oh this makes me very sad indeed...

edit edit: Nevermind, brain fart - I found it. Yeah, necrotic burst SLA is saweet

Basically transforming him on a NecroBot!

Yep! But on the plus side, the necrobot hurts while it heals.

at present im still toying with this idea, i guess im gonna wait till
ive played around with cleric side on one of my alts a lot more.
need to see the damage numbers from the sla's and spells i think
so i get a better understanding of what does what.

i still think this is possible, maybe not for EE but definetly for EH,
but then again with enough past lives, good gear etc etc just maybe
it can be done. i live in hope lol.

your friend sil :)

ps, thankyou for all the above replys.......

Would like to awaken this thread again. Looking for my next life already, Deep Gnome Cleric, so thinking about a Pale Cleric here, 13/7 maybe. Any inside out there?

I have but some thoughts into a build of this type. Mainly centered around Negative Energy Burst SLA in the Cleric DD tree as a free meta-able SLA for burst healing.

Since Negative Energy Burst Caps @ 10 caster levels (not including any epic feats) You could get quite a bit of Negative Healing out of 13Cleric/7Wiz with DD NEB SLA.

However, you would be limited to Zombie/Vamp. Your Death Aura and Lesser Death Aura will hit you for a lot less. The wiki is not real clear on how this damage is processed.

As it reads it could be (2d4+1)/(2 caster levels) or (2d4) + 1/2caster levels. So at caster level 7 not including any gear at all you will be getting ticks off aura for 18~HP with (2d4+1) per 2 caster levels or 8~HP with (2d4) +1 per caster level.

I suspect based on the numbers I see on my PM it is the latter (2d4) +1 per 2 CL but havn't ciphered it completely out.

Wizard NEB (1d4+4) per 2 caster levels is about 19~HP @ caster level 7. So would a handle "back-up" expensive burst heal.

After considering all this it usually makes more sense to rely on Positive Energy heals from Cleric :P

13 cleric 6 wizard 1 fighter is probably your best option. You heal yourself with inflict spells, so self healing isn't a big deal even with puny auras. Level 13 cleric grants harm right? Harper and Deep Gnome is a pretty good idea to use for something like this. I would do 12 cleric 2 Wizard 1 fighter to begin with and refocus to pale master at 20 using Eldritch knight/radiant servant prior.

Ok, tx for the feedback. i prolly gonna try this out then, putting me on hotkey for the "inflict" heals then. See how fun this build will be :)

Bear in mind that targetting works completely differently for Inflict spells than it does for Cure spells. Inflict spells have short range, and require you to be facing your target, and won't automatically target yourself if you have a monster targetted. It's much harder to heal other undead players with a neg energy cleric. Also test whether the mass inflict Divine Disciple SLA works the way you expect it to - it doesn't heal yourself when you're an undead cleric.

We were putting together an all-undead static party and thought a healer would be good.

So we did a little testing.

The fundamentals do work however we found the following:-
Inflict has disasterously short range (seems to be touch - but can be doubled with enlarge)
Mass Inflict does not let you heal yourself (although it will heal other undead in the range)
The SLA Mass Inflict does not let you target an ally (or yourself)
The Decision about which SLAs allow which metamagics is often "interesting" - Necro Bolt has no meta magics - Necro Burst allows for lots of them.

On the whole Necro burst and Death Auras seem as strong as advertised - the Spell Synergy with cleric is... not as strong as expected.

Great information right here.

The first synergy of this build that comes to mind would be a different take on Shiradi for Sun-Elf IPL, Cleric PL and Primal Karma.

2FVS for Scourge, Just Rewards, Spell Crit, EffMeta: Max
7Wiz for Zombie/Vamp, Death Aura, NeB, EffMeta: Max
11Cleric for Harm Spell and DD NeB SLAs, USP and Spell Crit

I did one of these for fun a while ago (just at level 15 in vampire form) and the annoying part is that you have to aim harm at yourself in order to hit yourself (unlike heal). that alone was enough to make me give it up

You should assign target keys for yourself and enemy , and have them accessible to your movement keys.
