How about reintroducing XP bonus for doing quests below the actual level. We had that once but that was removed.

I remember doing certain quests (e.g. crucible) with party members that were far below the actual level (e.g. a low level cleric). But that was way before certain spells were changed from bestowing a permanent effect to very short duration effect. Since then the minimum levels for various quests were raised and spells changed to be less effective or even ineffective. So the only thing of interest would be to reintroduce the the bonus for say doing a quest one or two levels below the actual quest level (depending on difficulty).

This would be a bad idea because of how legend lives work and the lack of meaningful xp at high levels. This would be a newb trap for any who did it.

Actually, maybe not... Depending on how it's implemented, and after learning as a player how & when to apply it.

Consider those top level heroic quests, like House C, Amrath & IQ. If your staying at 18 until you reach 20, you may qualify for an "under level" bonus when running those on Elite, or maybe even Hard. I would think anything that adds xp value there would be pure benefit.

During the low to mid levels there's some chain quests that end on higher levels than they begin, an under level bonus could encourage someone like me who currently breaks them up (to hit them all at the top end of streak bonus) to run the chain consecutively.

Just some thoughts on the matter, but of course it all depends on implementation.

Wouldn't that just encourage people to pike their L1s in L20 quests and let their guildies powerlevel them with obscenely huge underlevel bonuses?

Or, at the very least, it undervalues low- and mid-tier content packs. Getting someone to power you through an Elite Vale quest one time would be worth more XP than all of Necro I and II combined.

Nobody suggested the removal of powerlevel penalties for players grouped with others of a much higher level. The suggestion is for players (all of similar level) gaining an xp bonus for playing a quest underlevel.

I think there is some merit to this idea especially considering potential xp ransack changes coming soon. Instead of the typical "run 10 times exactly 1 or 2 levels above the quest" you could have players running a quest once a day from 5 levels below with nice suggested bonuses right up to 2 levels over. The overall number of times you are able to squeeze xp out of the quest and the actual total amount of xp gained from the quest could be much greater than it is under the current system. You still have the option to get your first time bravery at 2 levels over base quest level, but the OP suggests that you also have a different option to get another (potentially stacking) bonus for also playing the quest underlevel. Bravery (elite) + first time bonus + underlevel bonus + all the rest could mean great potential gains for those that play the quest underlevel.

Would be nice.
Among the lines of - highest player is at (not adjusted by difficulty) level of the quest on elite -> 10% bonus, 1 below -> 25% , highest player is two below -> +50%.

I can see the LFM’s now: Elite Madstone, Levels 8-10 ULTRA Selective.

I could see this causing more problems than BB apparently is for some.

While I'm willing to concede the possibility, I suspect that the people who would post that way are more likely to do it via private (guild/channel/friend) grouping; plus if they ran so consistently far below level they would get caught in the previously mentioned "noob trap" and run out of good options higher up in heroic levels.

Agreed. It would have to be a large bonus for me to even think of touching quests that early.

That's why I was thinking more about how it would effect chains like STK, Delera's & Tangleroot... Maybe some of Threnal as well. If your at BB range for the first quest, you'll (potentially) be tacking on an "under level" bonus by the end of the chain. Also of how it could posatively effect the (base) lvl 18 and above heroic quests.

As for the "noob trap" potential mentioned earlier, that would (I think) mostly apply to TR lives. First lifers have significantly smaller xp needs at the top end and thus much more latitude.

Of course, there's already some shake-ups coming to the leveling process in the forms of TR xp "recurving" (redistribution?) and the possable new ransack/first run of the day mechanics. Hard to say how an under level bonus would fit in to that scheme until we see a more concrete system set for implementation.
