View Full Version : Developers, why not take this chance to upgrade/update Eveningstar Challenges?

Seeing as you are adding new content to FR, why not add some new items and make a few small changes to the ES challenge pack? Currently, most of the items there are basically just randomly-generated loot, along with the 3 different varieties of cloaks that are generally useful but not overly powerful.

Also, I would like to suggest that ES items and ingredients should be changed to follow the same rules as Cannith challenge items and ingredients.

Example: Items are BtA unless they are upgraded, as are ingredients. However, instead of making the third tier items craftable, gives them an augment slot.

Example2: To get a lvl 20 Cloak of Flames you just have to get enough ingredients to buy the cloak. To get a lvl 20 Cloak of the Wolf, however, you have to buy the lvl 16 version of the item, get more ingredients (enough to buy a second lvl 16 cloak) and then use those to buy the lvl 20 version. The latter is tedious in the extreme.

Answer: Managers not developers, have to agree there is...
1. an issue.
2. developers they can assign to the issue that aren't busy with something higher priority.
3. have budget to make such a change.

Three strikes, it just won't happen. *sigh* We keep suggesting it, and managers keep ignoring it. Status quo.

They do update older systems and loot sometimes. We just have to wait and hope.

Great ideas, but its four weeks until the expansion launches. That gives the devs three weeks at most to finish their work on it before it gets packed into the update. I'm sure most of that time will be spent on the enhancment pass.

How about just making ingredients BtA?

One change is all that is needed.

They'd probably get confused and nerf xp again instead =P

You make setting priorities and following budgets sound like a bad thing ..

Make all mats BTA and the item you create bind on equip. That allows you to sell stuff you don't want. I like the idea of adding some kind of mechanism to add augment slots.

You mean give people a reason to play in content they spent time and money designing? Shenanigans.

When I was first starting out in this game, I asked an older player what packs I should buy. He suggested Gianthold and Vale of Twilight. Almost a year later, I heard a newer player in the group I was running with ask the same thing to a veteran player. Guess what the answer was? Gianthold and Vale of Twilight.

And you know what? I agreed with that vet. Not because it was what another vet said to me in my newb days, but because I had run both packs and I knew that it was true.

So my point is, Turbine is missing out by not updating or adding to content that isn't the newest thing anymore. Word of mouth is hard to quantify, but is not to be underestimated. A lot of what I hear about the ES challenges is basically this: They aren't worth it. It's sad, since they have only 4 items and what is essentially a random loot generator. Personally, if I wanted random loot I would just go to a regular treasure chest in a quest and pull it. But spend challenge mats on something when I have no control over the outcome? No way. This isn't like the Festivult where coins are a dime-a-dozen.

BTA challenge mats make so much sense that a nerf to XP would be a fair trade.

This all assumes a problem. By keeping ES mats and gear BtC, they are keeping you in longer since you have to grind on each character. As far as they are concerned, this is completely WAI.
