View Full Version : necro specced / healer FVS - feat selection / enhancement choices considerations

I am interested in possibly grinding out 3 FVS past lives for my cleric who will eventually have a final life as cleric and if I'm really ambitious will go 3x wiz and 3x sorc.... bear in mind that I plan on staying in lvl 20-25 on the fvs lives for a little while anyway so not going to grind one life/week or something crazy like that..

I would like to go necro spec for destruction (and a few other necro spells) as well as be able to heal groups/raids and add in some light based damage.

Not interested in 2 pally or other splash builds and I plan on reusing most of my cleric gear for the FVS lives.

First thoughts:

1 - Wisdom maxed always for DC's
3 - Human, for extra feat - no other compelling races for FVS IMO - would welcome other thinking on this
4 - Skills: Max concentration/balance/jump by lvl 20

feat choices (this is where I am seeking the most advice)

- Silver Flame for searing light SLA

Empower
Empower Healing
SF: Necro, GSF: Necro, ESF: Necro
Maximize
Spell Penn, Greater Spell Penn
Toughness

I chose enlarge because of my experience in FOT pugs and thinking that it might help with slay living and other situations when people are just out of my reach for healing.

Enhancements

Only listing a few:

Smiting/Life magic --> IV in both lines
Prayer of smiting/life --> III in both lines
Energy of the scion --> IV
Wand & Scroll mastery -> III
Spell Penn -> II
Improved empowering -> II

Are you CERTAIN you want 3 FvS PLs, but you're not sure about Wiz & Sorc? What's the rationale? I would say at least 1 Wiz is top choice if you want to go for DCs, and every Wiz PL gives twice the Spell Pen benefit that a FvS PL does. And Sorc PLs of course for Evoc DCs.

A feat, plus Human can also get 1 more Wis. It's my race choice for caster divines, too.

Max jump is overkill. UMD can be handy.

Angel of Vengeance is worth taking. Give enemies a penalty to their saves & spell resistance. And the archon charges up Exalted Angel ED abilities for you.

I'm not a fan of Prayer of Life, even for Cleric, but especially for FvS (no positive energy aura to benefit from it). Nor of the Energy line past the minimum needed as a pre-req.

Good point, I could drop ESF in favor of Wiz past life

I am assuming you're referring to the Epic Ability feat (or whatever it's called)

What is a healthy jump, assuming I have the Morah's Belt clicky?

I assume it would then switch to maxing out balance/UMD/concentration each level....

No, though that is an option for using the extra feat. I was referring to the racial enhancement, Human Adaptability, +1 to the stat of your choice. Only available to Human and Helf.

More than +40 to Jump doesn't do anything. So with +30 from Morah's, you really only need to hit +10. Even that doesn't have to be from ranks; you'll get +5 just from Epic levels, plus some from Str, and there's Greater Heroism and a Good Luck item or Augment, etc.. It's not hard to get to +40 Jump at cap with with zero ranks. And there's only a few places you even need that.

Though if you have a +2 (or higher) Int tome, you'll have some extra skill points to play with; 1 rank of Tumble and a few in Jump certainly doesn't hurt.

If you intend to heal, I think that you'll find Quicken quite useful for mass heal and while be pounded upon by mobs. Might be worth it to take and swap out something else.

Good catch. I didn't notice that he didn't have it. Suggestion 2nded.

Here is my build:
https://www.ddo.com/forums/showthread.php/423860-The-anti-heal-Favored-Soul

and not to toot my own horn, I think I do really well in all EE content, if I don't have to heal I can keep up with the most uber of wizards.

The build can heal well enough but I tend to pay attention to other things so don't count on me to catch you if you go down too fast.
