View Full Version : Glitter Dust broken and even more complications...

Even though glitter dust casts a blinding effect upon someone, it cannot be countered with a Blindness Ward item, which SHOULD have provided immunity from it's blindness, yet it didn't.

As for other complications, specifically in the New Enhancement Revamp, it will lead to a lot of adjustments and re-planning in probably everyone's builds. Although I do like the idea of the action points being displayed as trees and reducing the level requirements of a class for a certain enhancement, there are still a lot of confusing things. For example, combining some of the Prestige Enhancements (e.g. Spellsinger + Virtuoso and Hunter of the Dead and Knight of the Chalice). It just doesn't make sense, especially since there's suppose to be more class differentiation, and not less...

But anyways, about time!!! At least some classes are getting new Prestige Enhancements.

P.S. When/If the enhancement revamp comes, I demand for a free LR (lesser reincarnation) at the least. Feel free to add more suggestions to the list!

Most likely they will reset the free Lesser TR for every toon that came with the AC pass in MoTU.

I think some spells with AOE blind effects dont actually put the condition Blinded on you, so they're not affected by Blindness Immunity. Glitterdust, Sleetstorm, etc. You can clear the effect by just leaving the AOE.

And I dont think you need a LR just for enhancements, since you can reset those at will...but you probably CAN ask for a LR because of the changes to the skillpoint system :)

And I do like more options and more prestige classes - but I'm just worried that the prestige classes will end up representing such a large portion of where your skills and abilities come from, that everyone will just be reduced to picking two PrEs as their "build". Ie, you wont have builds like Monkcher or Juggernaught anymore, you'll just have "PrE1/PrE2", and the class distribution and attributes and feats and skillpoints etc. will all be defined around that.

Because everyone is an arcane.

Blindness Ward should outright block an effect that blinds you, as the name says. Then again, the change I'm assuming will happen for Blindness Ward in the near future is Protection from Blindness +6. >_>

Yeah but I also heard that for the monks stances (and maybe other enhancements, too) that they're changing those to feats that you can take instead. And like you said, I think I'd want to redistribute my skillpoints, too, because they're adding the spellcraft skill. Also, since they're adding and combining these prestige enhancements, that would lead to more required feats (depending on what PrE I guess) unless they were to change the requirements, which would still mess up everyone because then they'd probably have a feat that they don't want, need, or prefer.

I'm not quite understanding the entire choosing multiple Prestige Enhancements, like is it from the same class, such as Arcane Archer AND Tempest, or if you're multiclassed (say 6 ranger 6 monk) can you take the monk ninja spy plus shintao monk, as well as the AA and Tempest? I mean it sure is quite a few feats to take but with the new enhancement revamp is that possible I'm wondering? I'm more of a visual person so reading release notes hasn't really helped me get the all-around understanding yet, plus I'm slow. So I feel like I won't really know what it'll really be like until it actually comes out.

The last part I can answer.

You can, for example, get enhancements from AA and Tempest (my monkcher would probably wind up getting a bit from Ninja Spy, Deepwood Sniper, and AA, for example). From the enhancements alpha, though, you basically select enhancements based on what trees you have available (to my knowledge, at most will be 3 class trees you can select from all that are unlocked by having a level in a class, or possibly through racial enhancements).

To the first part, IIRC it has been stated that a LR would be extremely likely for the enhancement pass (as it's almost necessary), though honestly I'd prefer an LR +5 (or even +20) to be available for all characters on the enhancement pass release.

Blindness ward doesn't work on glitterdust and a few other effects becaue you aren't actually blind. You just can't see more than 2 inches in front of you due to, in glitterdusts case, all the glittering particles hanging in the air. Sort of like in a really really bad fog, you aren't blind, but can't see more anything anyway.

Problem is, in D&D games, a status affect that is supposed to be blocked by something needs to specifically say if that blocker doesn't stop it (example, the trinket from u18 specifies "Blindess Immunity does not prevent this effect.", whereas Glitterdust simply says "A cloud of golden particles covers everything in an area, causing targets to become blinded and outlining invisible or stealthy creatures (-40 to Hide checks to any creature covered by the dust, and visually affects party members). A successful will save negates blinded." which does not in any way say it'd bypass Blindness Ward).

My thoughts exactly, so they need to either fix it and make it that way, or make the Blindness Ward apply to glitterdust, too, which I'd prefer since it's pretty annoying.

Im not 100% sure, but i believe glitter dust CAN cause blindness (making your screen completely black) but that has a save which most likely is made. the glowing dust that impairs vision is annoying but its not the blindness effect, its merely a cloud of glittering dust that obscures your vision.

its the same as a cloud spell causing concealment for things with trueseeing, its an AOE effect that impairs vision without actualy effecting either creatures physically so spells and such such as blindness immunity or cure dont work against it.

Agreed. Being blind and having your vision obstructed (hope that's a word) isn't the same thing. Would be nice if it could be clarified though.

Seems to be the most resonable reason it doesn't ward against that effect.
