We are currently investigating issues that are preventing players from logging in to the game. Players already in-game can continue to play unless they are disconnected or log out. We will keep you updated.

I am unsure if what I experienced this morning is related. Last night, the game would would not exit properly, after 15-20 minutes, I shutdown DDO manually. This AM, after selecting the "Play" button after the checks were made, launcher would time out with "unable to connect to the SQL servers". My assumption was that my local files were corrupted from last night. A reinstall of the backup files did not fix it. I had to completely reinstall and was able to login.

Let's test it!
Username... Password... Log In... Character select screen that STILL fails to show goggles on character model... Enter... Double the loading time compared to pre-patch... And what do you know - I get red connectivity issue icon right off the bat, with no packets received from the server soon followed by Lost Connection crash.
With the same result across three different ISPs, two different machines and all techsupport responded the ticket with was pestering me for more information about my computer and connection.
So yeah. Connectivity issue is NOT resolved.
This, combined with almost a month of downtimes every other day (which happened while I was on VIP subscription too by the way) we had recently leads me to these two questions:
1) Will I be adequately compensated for all this ****?
2) If not - why should I bother with this game any more?
Lack of any answer automatically makes second question more important of two.

Yep, still no connection. Splash screens load and all that fun stuff. Then get's to the update screen and just sits there with the little blinky star and "waiting" posted next to connect. Then of course, the "retry" follows along with the "An update error occurred: A connection attempt failed." Already been through the complete uninstall, reinstall, resets, and so on...anyone else still unable to connect?

Yeah, I couldn't get in last night, and now it's 3:30 on Friday and still nothing. Same thing, the connection status is just waiting.

Try some of the basic solutions like removing the launcher from your task bar, restarting the computer, re-launching the client. Try running it as an administrator. Try the solutions here (http://www.ddo.com/forums/showthread.php/391842-DDO-and-Windows-8-Release-Preview-(Stopped-on-examine-stage-on-launcher)), here (http://www.ddo.com/forums/showthread.php/202636-Common-Technical-Issues-and-FAQ-UPDATED-3-9-2011), here (http://www.ddo.com/forums/showthread.php/418604-quot-Turbine-launcher-has-stopped-working-quot-when-at-quot-opening-main-forum-quot-SOLUTION!), and here (http://www.ddo.com/forums/showthread.php/417753-Update-18-Patch-1-Launcher-Issue-Workaround).
If none of that works, please send in a ticket to Technical Support. You can do this by going to support.turbine.com, then clicking on "Support Center" and "Submit a Ticket." Good luck!

Tried all of those as well. Nothing changed so far. Still gets to the "Game Update Progress:" screen and the blinky star next to connect with the "waiting" status. Will send in a ticket and see what happens.

Ticket confirmation at 4:01 PM CT .....2 hours later....still waiting for a response...
It seems over the past 30 days this has become a problem that keeps coming back. 3 times in as much time.
Is there anything being done that will actually make this not a problem every 10 days or so?

After having a problem logging in this morning I looked through old threads in the support area and did a search on the error in google. It seems that part of the login procedure for DDO is based on embedded internet explorer. A windows update went out yesterday (which affects internet explorer security) and I didn't allow the update to occur. I have now updated my windows and am able to login to ddo correctly.

Well 3 hours later since I submitted my ticket and no response from anyone. Finally got the entire game re-downloaded and reinstalled...runs fine now. Appreciate the help...short answer delete everything and start over.

Thrudh used to add the suggestion of reformatting the computer hard drive, reinstalling the OS, and then moving forward from that point. It seems a bit extreme, but I suppose it might work.

Need to update thread title to the 16th now, but wait, it can't be a server issue, it must be that everyone's machine broke on the same day!!!
OK - we all stink, there is nothing wrong with the login server...

I have been having login problems for the last two days.
The login to the server (world) is intermittently working. Most times it will log on fine; other times it is abysmally slow.
Logging onto a character can be variable and is more problematic. Sometimes it states that it can't log onto the authorization server. Other times it gets to the loading screen and just sits. Sometimes it logs on.
When logged on, any loading screen has the potential of disconnecting me from the server.
I tried a complete re-install and the problem is persisting. I tried changing graphics settings to lower settings and that did nothing. I am able to access the internet in all other regards without problem.
Any suggestions?
Vallin.

Can only play as admin - any other connectivity is abysmal - zone in's lock. Locks from logging password screen to successive screens in a seeming random fashion.
Problems all started with the "fix" on the 14th.
Have win Vista 64 bit SP2. No config or any other changes on client side.
No fun found.
Not a bit.
Any Ideas?

Now can no longer connect reliably as admin or any other profile. If I do manage to get in, it will just crash on zone in to a quest, sooner or later - mostly sooner.
Is anyone working on this at all?
Game was completely removed and re-installed.
Win firewall rules all have been deleted and replaced.
IE functions fine (no connectivity problems)

Your issues sound quite similar to mine. I have been playing the game on my current machine with absolutely no problem up until the last couple days. I would greatly appreciate any direction that could be given. I don't want to hunt down something unique to my system if it is a server/connectivity problem. I have made no changes to my system.
As it stands, the game is not playable for me. I have a VIP subscription and would appreciate some direction. Thank you.

Last night (6/15) halfway thru a quest I lost connection with the Chat Server. Tried the usual restart client, reboot pc, etc. Nothing restored it. Muddled thru rest of the quest sending /tells. Then I DC'd on a loading screen. Reconnecting failed, after about 20 mins I gave up, I tried other characters, other servers, nothing. (note I got to the point of selecting a character to log onto and game hung up on loading with no progress until I eventually lost connection again.)
Log in today (6/16) Chat Server was still unavailable. At some point my connection to the chat server restored itself. I ran a few quests, then lost my chat server connection and am now again unable to log into game, any toon, any server.
Problem persists 6/17.

I am having the exact same issue - same problem with the disconnection from chat server, and loading screens get booted off. now I seem unable to login.
I was wondering if it was an issue from my internet connection or computer.

I was so excited when I saw this post that it was working. So I tried to log in. How can it be working when I STILL can't log in. I haven't changed anything on my machine and it was working fine 2 weeks ago. Thanks for yet another ruined evening. Now I'm forced to watch some stupid reality show **** with my wife.
