So I'm thinking of coming back. But while I was playing, I noticed a severe drop in server populations. I wasn't expecting a crowd considering the new games coming out, but I might have seen 3-4 people between levels 1-3. Is this because of me being in Korthos? Or because I play 9pm-3am EST? Or is DDO really dying? ):

I think there has been a slight drop. But I don't think it's more than a couple percent. On Orien, it's pretty busy as far as I can tell.
Still gettin a sh*t load of people in the harbor. And on the other end of the spectrum, quite a few in Eveningstar as well.
I think a lot of folks may be creating the new Bladeforged Paladins, they start at lvl 15.
That may explain the ghost town action in Korthos.

At this moment on Thelanis, there are about 50 level 1-3 people online (not counting any anonymous people, though I don't know why there'd be many anonymous level 1-3 people), and this is far from primetime on a weekday, albeit on what I understand is one of the most active servers.

According to http://ddoracle.com/Traffic.html, the playerbase has been roughly about the same or slightly lower lately than in previous weeks/months. Not too surprising, really. There'll probably be some significant changes (likely for the better) for at least some time after the new expansion hits, too.

Different servers have different peak times. Which server are you looking at?

Same as ever......everyone is too busy whining on the forums to actually play the game

Korthos is (unfortunately) split between a "sunny side" and a "snowy side". Most people skip right to the sunny side, and there is no real need to group at that level anyway. Many people skip Korthos completely. I don't because of the coin lord favor, but I usually don't group there either.

This game is nowhere near dying as far as I can tell. :)

No. People don't play DDO anymore. We all just sit around on the forums posting about playing DDO instead of actually playing it.

I won't say less people are playing the game - but its different than it used to be. Most likely because of less TRing because of the epic levels. A month or two back I was helping my GF with a new toon and couldn't believe what a ghost town Korthos has become. I did the favor running thing when I first started so I spent way too much time in Korthos the first few months I played. Didn't matter the time or the server - Korthos always had at least a dozen people in it and usually at least two instances.

I was helping her in peek hours and we were the only ones there. But when you subtract everyone who stays in the epic levels now who used to TR, that's going to make a difference.

Well from everyone's responses, it sounds like the game isn't dead. And a number of things could have contributed to no one being around. So I'll keep playing :D Thanks guys!
