I have a wf arti with 6 charisma is it possible to get enough umd for raise dead or resurrect scrolls ? Only level 7 with not much invested so was thinking if not I can reroll as a drow elf. Thanks in advanced

You can easily get it, but you do have to invest. You want max ranks in UMD at all times. Get yourself some sort of UMD item (command being the cheapest and easiest to get), a luck item doesn't hurt either. Heroism pots and GH scrolls can get you there too. A triple positive GS weapon can give you both stacking +3 to UMD AND be a really nice undead beater (actually not a bad trash beater in a lot of content too)

Yes, I'm a pure arty and I use Raise Dead and Resurection scrolls all the time. I started my Epic toon at CHA = 8 at level 1.

I like the ideas in this thread. I always try to max my UMD.

I don't know if you have Epic Destines, but with EDs I buff my CHA/UMD. My favorites for that are Draconic and Majister for CHA stat increase.

I didn't see it, might be wrong.. But greensteel charisma skills item? +6 UMD (and you can get 300 sp on those, if that's whatcha want)
Makes most of my lives have enough UMD to matter.. even if it's cross-class, and only half ranks. (I can't push for no fail resurrect, but definitely raise, displace, fire shield, etc.)

All nice but in reality artis don't get the +5, and I would not hold my breath that they fix that any time soon. +3 sure, but, the last +2 from scroll mastery hasn't worked for ages.

Always nice to try to cast a scroll that mouseover says 100%. And then you roll 2 and fail, because the +2 scroll mastery doesn't work.

there's always the Skill Focus: UMD for an additional +3 as well if you're desperate o-o
