View Full Version : Servants of the Overlord ritual chest on a Bard?

Is this possible?

Bard's main strength is crowd control. When soloing epic quests I handle trash by throwing Mass Charm, then fascinate or disco ball those not charmed, and add to DPS with Dirge and Reign. If everything got charmed, I release one mob at a time and let the rest beat up on him. However this tactic does not work with fire elementals and fire reavers. Charmed mobs mostly stand still and throw fireballs at the hostiles. Hostiles take no damage (or are actually healed). I soloed EN Servants of the Overlord a couple times, but ritual optional was a humiliating failure. Is there a way to do it on a bard?

I absolutely destroy that quest on EH solo on my Warchanter in Legendary Dreadnaught. Just pop a Fireshield: Cold before you run in and hit Fascinate if you need to. Most of that stuff basically evaporates under Master's Blitz.

You are a Warchanter :) I am a Virtuoso Fatesinger. I do not do much DPS. When soloing pretty much anything I usually bring a Legendary Dreadnaught hireling to do most of brute-force fighting, but I cannot put Fire Shield onto him.

I would suggest a modified version of your existing tactic. *Disco the trash, perhaps bring an **ice caster hireling instead of the dreadnought, and continue to cc while healing the hire. Scrolls of ice storm, while not huge dps, would fall into the "better than nothing" category for some aoe damage to soften 'em up a bit.
Good luck & I hope this helps!

*Haven't run a bard in a while, do you have access to mass hold? May work better here, can't remember off hand if disco also increases incoming dmg due to "helpless" state.
**I don't use hires, so honestly not sure if there is an ice caster available.

According to wiki, there is no really ice-specced hireling. The closest thing is Ulga (Wiz 20) who casts Polar Ray. Lyvwen (Wiz 22) cast Banishment - that might work.

Mass Hold is not a bardic spell, but yes, disco ball increases incoming damage.

Thanks for the suggestions!

I've done this optional three times now with my PALADIN (blitzing, but the main factor here is actually just keeping aggro focused away from the lever) and my panther hireling pulling the lever. A bard should have a rather easy time in comparison.

It takes some practice, but once you nail it, you can do it on any class just by (1) maintaining aggro/cc and (2) having a hireling pull the lever.

BTW, with CC (the life before my current one on my sorc was a max-DC wizard), I was able to quite easily dancing ball all of the spawn points and pull the lever with no risk.
