How exactly does Smite Construct work?

The description of Rogue Mechanic II active ability - Smite Construct, - is very unclear. It just says "extra damage". Is it just one attack, fixed number of attacks, or all attacks in a certain time period? Do you need to target a specific construct when exercising Smite Construct?

Yes, it's just one attack. Pretty terribad, really. but since it's almost free and you don't get SA on constructs you might as well take it..
