View Full Version : Time for Improved Stunning Blow...

...I don't usually run with ship buffs (none that increase the DC anyway) and other than Power Surge, I generally don't use things like Yugo Pots, Rage Pots, etc...that being said I still have a Stun DC 10 + Str(18) = 28 + Kensei(3) = 31 + Ftr Strategy(4) = 34 + WF Tact(2) = 36 + Both Dun ‘Robar Rings(15) = 51 + Power Surge(4) = 55 pretty much consistently. On EH mobs rarely if ever make a save, but on EE I rarely if ever land a stun...is it just that EE is way out of whack, or is my stun on the low end?

Estimated DC for endgame EE quests is around mid-60s. In your DC breakdown I can't see the ED tactics enhancement from Legendary Dreadnought tier 1, which can give you a +6 to all your tactic feats DCs (it works for monk's SB as well). Talking about EDs, primal scream from Fury of the Wild tier 1 will boost your strength by up to +5 for 3 minutes, with up to 3 uses per rest. That's another +2 to your DCs, which means you can hit the mid 60s mark just by tweaking the EDs.
You can also get higher DCs swapping some gear, since adamantine cloak of the bear gives +6 to exceptional combat mastery (Dun Robar gives +5). Ofc you know what's best for you. :)

Yeah forgot to factor in LD + 6 so 61 consistent...so that being said, 61 stun DC and it RARELY lands on EE...

Yeah I could factor in all those things but I'd rather rock cocoon for the self heals, Im an 18/2 Ftr/Rog so I twist Unearthly for the reflex/dodge and sense weakness for the damage...I guess the point of this thread is...thats a pretty freaking high DC to not be useful in EE, yet its virtually no fail on EH...

You're sacrificing your DC for self heals, that's fine. If everyone could sacrifice their DC for self healing and still land their stuns, what would be the point in LD's +6 tactics at all?
3 fighter past lives and LD+6 tactics would put you at 64, by some people running epic elites, that's considered a small investment.
You could also open an attack with improved sunder lowering a mobs fort save by another 3.

How would Improved Sunder lower their fort (am I missing a hidden effect?) and I corrected my numbers in a post above, I run LD and have the +6 so its a 61 Stunning Blow DC, which I think should do in EE, but it doesn't...
How would Improved Sunder lower their fort SAVE (am I missing a hidden effect?) By doing what it says on the description of the feat.

Tenser's Transformation is +4 alchemical str/con/dex. I run it all the time on my pure, since you're a rogue splash you should have no issue doing the same.

Tenser's Transformation is +4 alchemical str/con/dex. I run it all the time on my pure, since you're a rogue splash you should have no issue doing the same.
And no doubt, I could use this along with all the other things mentioned above...but as the OP suggests, wouldnt Imp Stunning Blow be more appropriate...at this level, this far into the game,with mobs using it on us and having to go to such extremes to get it to land on EE...

I use the feat myself......no need to act like a jerk. I know what the feat actually does.

You assume what it does because you saw it on a wiki, show me what it does...give me a fish, teach me to fish...take 5 minutes out of your busy life and take a ss or use fraps...if you're really trying to help that is...

What does that prove...here let me help myself, how are you testing it?
p.s. my problem is that you and a few others are telling me to go waste some shards on something that may or may not have a hidden effect, all based off of a wiki.

Trauma is the effect that gets placed with improved sunder...Again I know what the feat does BECAUSE I use it.

And honestly I would trust the wiki over what the in game descriptions say...Turbine is not known to be clear on things....I could go back and find the release notes on where this was changed but I don't like digging through these forums.

Now you're talking, gracias. The only problem I see is that it is a fort save as well, so I will have to figure out where to put +10 shatter. Do you notice Imp Sunder landing consistently on EE?

The "trauma" effect goes even if the mob saves....so -3 fort save if they save or not....the fortification debuff and ac debuff do require a failed save by the mob but not Trauma.

The Imp. sunder doesnt' ahve to land for the debuff to take effect, you merely need to land the hit on the mob and the debuff will activate with no save. The sunder itself will only activate if the mob fails the save. The debuff also stacks up to 5 stacks granting -15 fort save IIRC (-3 per stack).
Otto's boxes are probably back because people are ditching ddo in droves lol.

These changes were put in around update 10 or 11...something like that...The in game description has never matched either.

Thinks DDO ingame descriptions are more accurate then the wiki LMAO
DDO decriptions are made by developers that prety much clueless about the game. they know how to code and that about it.
DDO wiki is made by players that actual know the game.

And this is where we differ, I would rather teach and have someone learn something than end up running with someone that didn't understand because some one like you decided, instead of helping, to just move on. If it takes extra effort on my part sometimes, well so be it. I used to teach raids as well. I used to run a build your character service. People learning something they didn't know are more valuable to the community than those that refuse to learn.
A lot of people don't learn because Turbines descriptions are horrible.

So what exactly does improved stunning blow do?
if there is no idea then i think it should have increased duration, increased DC, and apply feeblemind to the target weather they save or not.
