Forum login and password security isn't the same as forum cosmetics. I get that. But the number of basic problems with the new forum makes it clear that once again, this stuff just hasn't been adequately tested. So my concern is if there are so many basic problems then what hope do we have that the critical stuff has been treated with more care?

Not sure what I mean? Here's a quick list as I see it

1. New forum has no "remember" option and logs you out every 5 minutes
2. New forum has a Community drop-down with a Forums option that takes you to https://www.ddo.com/en/community instead of the correct page at https://www.ddo.com/en/forums
3. New forum colour scheme for "code" sections is an illegible yellow text on white background, requiring you to highlight the text to see it in reverse video
4. No dev tracker, which presumably even the devs who post on the forums didn't notice during their testing? I'm guessing that community spokespeople would have tested the new forums themselves to give feedback before this was launched? Right?
5. Classes sub-forums are illegible: see https://www.ddo.com/forums/forumdisplay.php/21-Classes
6. No documentation on the new forum features to familiarise users who have spent YEARS with the old forums
7. Bookmarks that users have individually saved appear broken, when they can easily edit their bookmark to recover their old threads - no sticky in the new forums to explain this
8. According to the login details there are no countries in the world apart from USA and Canada.
9. Board FAQ is in same illegible yellow on white: https://www.ddo.com/forums/faq.php
10. Style selector at the bottom doesn't provide any useful options that could address some of the cosmetic problems that we're seeing - Community Default is what we have and - Default Mobile Style is still the vBulletin default with clashing colours and not obvious that you need to use the Full Site option at the bottom to revert to the Community Default. Why is there no - DDO Classic option to use black background with red frames that some users might be more familiar with?
11. Same illegible yellow on white used to highlight menu selections in User Settings.

I'll not even go into aesthetics like the jumbo sized letter icons at the side of threads that just look stupid to me, or the capitalised font for the new forum titles (even though basic design teaches you to use mixed fonts because they're easier on the eye and to reserve colour, capitalisation, bolding and underlining for drawing attention to key elements).

Now I'm sure these things can be quickly addressed and rectified, and some we'll just get used to as with all change.

But given this is the released live version, which clearly hasn't been competently tested, it gives me zero confidence that my actual account details are secure.

I like the white on grey look, but still no link back to the pages you are on at the bottom of the post. Hey at least they put in a "go to top" button. Overall I give it a meh with the caveat that I removed all credit info from my account already

Well, my 'workaround' for the forum was to generate a Free to Play account in order to use this poorly designed forum--for at least one post. I have opened a ticket for my primary account, I cannot even access the myaccount.turbine page to load to check my 'country' listing. As it is, I would love to know the turn around time for this e-mail ticket system as I'm certain it got flooded yesterday.

As fair warning if my ticket is not resolved before the weekend I'll be making daily posts onto the Facebook site in regards to the Customer support issues and where things stand. I am a long-time VIP member (7 years) and this latest change has just pushed a lot of buttons as to how poorly it was rolled out, the accessibility issues and color combinations that everyone has been talking about, and the quite frankly WASTED time on this forum when efforts could have been spent on fixing content in the game--like the guild decay issues.

Lovely security I say! LOVELY!

This post by jjflanigan offers a vast improvement on the default style sheet options: https://www.ddo.com/forums/showthread.php/415713-Forums-Stylebot-Changes

I guess this is what Turbine mean when they say they're powered by their fans?

If you reconfirm your country with your address details on the Turbine account page https://myaccount.turbine.com/index.php

And then try and login for the first time it won't ask you for your country details.

Issue I have with it is after YEARS of being told, 'No one will ever ask you for your account information, do not give this information to anyone!' we are being told:

"Oh, don't worry about having to use your account information for accessing the forums! All is well!"

F'in seriously.

Not usually one to jump on doom and gloom bandwagons...

But Aussir's screenshot is even making me nervous.

EDIT: Got booted out before I could edit...

Would like to see some sort of official comment concerning this. Since hacking is everyone's main concern here, this is pretty worrying stuff.

We've been waiting for some sort of official comment concerning this... since they announced they were doing it. Community People have probably been getting PMs and stuff about it as well.

Silence appears to be the official Turbine policy... we'll just have to get used to it. :(
