Awww yeah, posting under the best class forum in the game.
Traps, Healing, DPS, Tanking... Rogues can do it all.... but it's far more satisfying to make someone else tank while we assassinate the mob at 10% health after the pally is done beating on it for a minute mwuhahaha.
On a meaningful note, I believe Drow Assassins are going to be even better than assassins are now with the new PREs, does anyone have a suggestion for a better class, or do they agree on the Drow front?

Human should be able to work as well. Extra feat and skil point is a plus.
Spending AP in racial line to get the tempest racial tree is much better spent using human enhancements then Drow ones.
But if you did want to mazimize rapier and short sword damage, drow would be your choice.
Even better: forget pure rogue
Go 13 rogue, 6 ranger (for 3d6 SA and the +1 to crit threat and +1 to crit multiplier melee attack), 1 monk (grab the three monk stances)
You end up with around 15d6 SA die (21d6 in Shadowdancer, extra 3% doublestrike bonus) as well as inherent: 15% enhancement bonus to attack speed (no need for haste), 100% off hand, 18% double strike (main hand), 25% doublestrike in offhand, faster attack speed using wraps, full strength/dex bonus for damage in offhand using wraps, full haste boost, free racial damage boost
what's not to like?

My post was under the assumption that you will not be using the assassin tree for assasinate, but rather splash in a a few trees for 2d6 - 3d6 SA.
And just do crazy damage with the number of SA the build has combined with the crazy attack speeds of the build. Pure DPS.
