View Full Version : So the Flameblade does not work in Wolf Form?

I just went in a PvP arena to test out a few weapons.
It looks like the flameblade does not add wisdom to-hit or damage while in wolf or bear form.
That kind of sucks.

yea, WAI too. pretty sure none of the other weapons that use a different stat other hten str to hit/dmg work since the ATK/DMG mod from the weapons arent transfered over, only their effects.

The flaming and other effects work fine in animal forms: adding to the damage of the base form.
Just not the wisdom to hit and damage.

Why would it in non animal form anyway? Do the game tooltips says it does?
Also, as an animal, you are "biting" per the game, as of such, you use your animal stats for to hit. (base damage could be argued based on my previous question, but then you run into similar issues like handwraps fight.)

A 3-foot-long, blazing beam of red-hot fire springs forth from your hand. You wield this bladelike beam as if it were a scimitar. Attacks with the flame blade are melee touch attacks. (We do not have touch attacks in game) The blade deals 1d8 points of fire damage +1 point per two caster levels (maximum +10). Since the blade is immaterial, your Strength modifier does not apply to the damage. (I think we actually do get Str bonus to damage. I forget, however.) A flame blade can ignite combustible materials such as parchment, straw, dry sticks, and cloth.

When selecting a weapon for your shapeshifted form, ignore crit range, crit multiplier, damage dice, and what stat modifies to-hit and damage. These are all pre-determined based on your animal form. The only things that will carry over are on-hit effects (Flaming, Destruction) and passive effects (Heal Amplification, Seeker).
Flameblades are just there for non-shapeshifted druids to dump strength and still have a melee option; a bad option, but an option nonetheless.

yeah. I think a caster druid's best melee option is the "Forgotten Light" mace. Even with the non-proficiency penalty.
I was just looking for a way to do some SP free damage between casting earthquake/icestorm/SOV.
