View Full Version : Shard House binds stuff when it doesn't sell?

Looted a Quiver of Poison (EE) the other day, and decided I'd try out the shard house despite really not liking the idea. Put it up and it didn't sell, so I got it back today. I went to put it up again, except the fee for putting it up has risen to 5 shards, and it's telling me it'll take 40% if it sells. So I see an exclamation point in the window, and it's telling me that the Quiver is now bound to my character. I examine the quiver, and sure enough.... BtC. All I did was put it up to be sold, I absolutely did not equip it, and now the **** thing is BtC.

Great. Now my Cleric gets 1d10 poison damage on her Storm, which she pulls out, oh, every six months or so? At least I know for sure that I don't want to use the s****y shard house anymore.

If that's true it makes it even more of a rip off for sellers.

It's actually an issue unique to the quiver of poison (http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?t=409083), not the shard exchange. Receiving a quiver in the mail, (or a few other actions) will bind it to character.

I was gonna say it didn't happen to the Wall of Wood that I had to list 3 times before it sold... sounds like it might be a bug specific to the Quiver of Poison (as stated by Zeeba).

After reading Zeeba's link, it appears that the quiver of poison has more binding bugs than just the Shard Exchange... a lot more.

Hasn't happened on anything I've sold that was BtCoE so far. Like someone already said, must be the quiver.

If the quiver arrives in your inventory in any way other than looting it in the chest, it will immediately bind - mailing, shared bank, trading, mail from AH, whatever. Even relogging.

Thank you to everyone who cleared up things by letting me know it is a Quiver issue and not necessarily a Shard House issue.

Still, not the best introduction to the Shard House I could have hoped for.

Now that I know a few specifics, I'll look around for more info on if they plan to do anything about it or not.

Thanks!

Hrmm....

My husband looted one a few weeks ago and gave it to me in a trade window to use on my Bard. It did not bind then- I am certain that I checked the binding status after it was in my inventory because I was mulling passing it to my Arti. It was the EE version if that makes any difference.

usually binds after whoever has it logs out, so if he looted, and traded you and you kept it on the character when you logged out, it normally would bind to that character. if you put it in a shared bank, it'd bind to whoever withdraws it. since you probably equipped it thats a moot point.

Well, maybe not trading then. Just about everything else.

There is also a possible issue of items equipping when acquired if there is an open slot in gear mix for that kind of item. Had it happen while running Sharn Syndicate's tavern defense quest.

Haven't yet tested it again to bug report as I've been a bit under the weather for a couple of weeks now. Being sick and beta testing == Yuck!!! ;)

That happens because when you pick an item out of an end list, it's selected. If you then press the "use" key without realizing it's selected, it'll be equipped.
