I've pulled this myself. Don't remember where I pulled it. I've kept it in the bank. It's not that great a reward. Let me know when you or your friend pull a heart of wood, or something like that.

I think it's a pretty darn good one.
Not the best of course. There's always something shinier.
But it beats luggin around a butt-load of spell components. least for a while anyway.

I keep components AND some of these on my toon - but now I only hotbar the omnispells (that I won or pulled, not purchased) to gauge when I'm out of components.

I agree, for a spell caster that's a great reward. Tell him I said "GRATS!"

I like to keep a stack on my blue bars that only cast material component spells rarely, like my paladin and ranger. Saves inventory space, and I really don't go through them that fast.

Unfortunately, my only blue bars right now go through components like I go through a bag of Reese's mini peanut butter cups.
My wiz is the worst, haven't quite gotten the hang of that class just yet.

Er...congrats? Sort of.
I have 2000 of them sitting in my Shared Bank gathering dust ATM (Pulled 1000 twice).
Why are they gathering dust?
Because there's no chance in hell I'll actually be buying any more and all they really do is increase the number of components I'd be carrying (Not like I'll be selling the components I already have, wasting plat, just so I can use up 2000 of the Omni's to then have to buy more spell components). Nor can I simply place my current spell components into the bank, because 10 slots is a lot.
It's kinda ironic really that an item designed to reduce the space needed has the opposite effect.

On my other casters, I keep a hotbar at the top of my screen and drag each level's component into it, in order, to keep better track of what I'm running low on. Paying attention to this will also help you to know what components you're using more of, and thus, which ones you can buy/carry less of for weight (and bank account!) purposes.
For example, I'm not sure that I've ever actually used a lvl 9 component on an arcane caster, so I only carry 100 of those, but I burn through lvl 4 and five like mad, so I have 1000 each of them.

Suggestion: Create a Hotbar at the top of the screen (opposite whichever side you have the buffs) and place your Spell Components there. You can see when you're getting low simply by glancing up. I have the mini map just below it so it really doesn't feel intrusive. I also tend to stock up to the 900 ish mark so that I have room to loot any I get from chests but don't need to top up after every couple of quests.

Well, no one says you HAVE to buy any. ;p
I look at the omnispell dusts like I do the spell pots, I'll save them until either I need them, or someone else does.
*not sure if the dusts are bound though, actually*

Dusts should be unbound, and able to be traded/auctioned.

Yeah, I've thought about that.
Some folks I run with that have several casters that have tr's them several times said it's not worth it.
But I am beginning to doubt that.

Its designed to bring Turbine money, not to save us space.
"Omnispell Dust, not even once *insert pic of random celebrity sniffing white dust*"
It should be displayed like AS/Plat and get used when you dont have the right casting mats with you. Also you should get a warning when you run out of normal casting mats and it switches to omni dust.
Thats how i would find it useful but i know it wont happen.

But I am beginning to doubt that.
Its a waste of a feat and it uses SP, which means that you end up consuming sp potion sooner or later. Even only a handful of pots costs more then all the mats you ever need for 1-25.
But if you are lazy and dont care about maxing your build go ahead, there are way worse feats.

Ah, thanks.
And yes, I do. You do make a very good point.
But I'm saying, hoard them like I did with major spell pots.
Before I ever had a blue bar, I had quite a few of those.
*edit*
Of course, I handed plenty of sp pots out to healers and casters. But I did manage to save a few of the lower end sp pots for when I inevitably started a blue bar.

Dust is unbound.
Not the ones I have, unless they've been stealth changed since I looted 'em.
I'll check again when I get in game, and if you're right then they're getting sold and you'll have my apology for misinformation.

The 500 i looted 2 weeks ago are unbound.
As always i looted it in the Haverdasher chest, seems that is the only chest in the whole game where i get store items.

Well, of course you will end up using an sp pot sooner or later. I know I do, just about every run.
We're talking about saving inv space.
And other than my arti, I don't have much experience with blue bars.
My healer and my wiz are both 1st lifers, and so I don't know very much about how to build them so that they're perfect.
I'm just having fun, taking my time and learning the various quirks of each class at a pace I'm comfortable with.
When it's no longer fun, is the day I stop playing....for a while anyway. :D

Yup. Just logged in and they are indeed unbound (definitely were BTA when I got them, it's why they're in the Shared Bank not character).
Nontheless, I do indeed owe you an apology, my information was incorrect.
Now I just need to decide how I'm going to sell em. (Definitely not the stupid ASAH).

So true.
If you're not all-in on Omni then it's just taking up another spot.
Worse, this single stupid item is the reason we don't just get spell component bags.
Turbine really goes out of their way to *irritate* customers some time. And dropping omnidust in small batches about as often as astral diamonds shouldn't be applauded. It should be derided.
Now, if it dropped as often as other spell components then, maybe, I'd find some appreciation for them. Still, we should have component bags or components should go into our ingredients bag (even better.)

Oh we definitely need the components to be able to go into the ingredients bags.
Kinda silly they don't actually.

Nonsense. You could just use the Omni in place of your least-used components. That way no extra slot is needed (and if it replaces more than one component then you save slots), and you can still use cheaper regular components for your most commonly used spells.
Plus, if you run out of any other component by mistake, then the Omni has you covered until you get more.

Just make sure they're in the right order, or you'll end up using them for every spell.
I've looted a few stacks in the past and wasted a bunch before I noticed they were in my inventory.
