LOL@ lack of foresight with DD indicator UI

Using the small fellowship UI: if you have mail AND it's Daily Dice time, you can't bring up the dice UI via clicking the indicator on the fellowship UI. Accessing via the Start menu thingies still works.

At least y'all tried.

I can do this just fine. Did it 2 hours ago when I had the mail icon up.

Interesting, mine didn't, despite about two minutes of trying clicks and double-clicks alike. Next time that happens, I'll try double-clicking everywhere to see if it was just a sweet spot like above; but I was on the center of the little dot.

Are you clicking on the large HP bar or the small HP bar? The evil smiley face that is the dice icon on the large bar do not open the dice thing. Only the tiny one on the "party" bar does, as far as I have seen.

I have yet to actually roll any dice though.

"Worked" for me and I quote that because putting a button for the die window on a combat indicator used to select party members or yourself for critical things such as healing is one of the most ******** UI blunders I've ever seen.

I can only assume they put it there so you will accidentally spend shards as you frantically try to get the thing shut while the monsters eat you and your party.

I use the large ui without the portrait bubble. I can't click the dice there. Well, can, but nothing happens.

It's never worked for me, but I have my large vitals bar (no portrait) immediately above the map. That map is crazy with how much area it blocks, well beyond its drawn borders. I assumed the map was blocking the dice.

Just an Update: Every day since Wed the 20th it has worked fine when both icons were up until last night Thur the 28th - happened again. This one's nothing but a nuisance, but potentially interesting to keep track of, nonetheless.

Any setting where the icon is a small dot with a single die in it, it worked. That's Small UI, Large UI w/ Portrait, Party UI for self, etc.

The only one where I could not get the icon to work was Large UI w/o Portrait. The icon changes in this configuration to a larger red dot with a pair of dice.

Then I rolled my freebie Silver and got a +1 unbound Int tome for a Copper Jackpot! :D

Interesting, since I use the small UI for hp/sp bars, but if y'all are having a repeatable issue with the large UI - maybe due to a momentary glitch as the character was loading, the game had me set to large (with the glitch), then swapped to small (and I couldn't see the switch)? Seems logical.

EDIT: So admittedly - it wasn't lack of foresight - just partially broken.

How's this for a novel indicator idea - over on the right-top of the screen, where they typically place the red exclamation point for events and guild leveling, they place a silver diamond with a d20 in the middle of it. Same size as the "!" and all. Don't think there would be any issues with that.

I agree that woulda been simpler, but my gawd it's ugly and intrusive... kinda like someone gave a kiddo a crayon and said design a UI element :D

I look at as a guaranteed way to get the players to actually use the free daily dice roll. As it is now, it can be completely ignored. Whereas, I will log out to character select in order to get rid of the "!" for world events as soon as possible.

/Second this. I went back in on a different server and bought a cheap something from AH to give myself mail, and had the exact same results as w/o mail.


(Would anyone believe me if I said my freebie Silver roll on THAT server netted me a minor jackpot of 35 ASs if I didn't SS it?) I could get in to this kind of UI testing. ;)
