View Full Version : "Do-Over" reinc (including race change)

I have some toons with builds that didn't work out, but have investments (bank space, tomes, etc) that I don't want to discard. My only current option is to plow through to 20 and then TR.

If Turbine offered a do-over reinc that let me start over at level 1 with any race/class, preserving past lives, epic destinies, etc.

It would be similar to a TR that didn't award any of the benefits (no past life, no increase in open quest difficulty, no increased stats, etc). The main purpose of this would simply be to start over without throwing the character away.

It's been suggested before, and its still a good idea.

I've liked it every time it has been presented. Make it happen!

First they need to fix all the issues with lesser reincarnation, otherwise we'll just get a copy of it allowing one more choice and a good roll of the dice to see if everything turns out how you want it.

What issues with LR? I know about the ones involving ED xp, and Epic classes, but on toons at levels up to and including 20, I've never had a problem, be it a simple LR or (in earlier days) a GR ...

I think this would be a great idea, and would help a lot of newer players have a good experience with the game.

While they need to add a way to race change there is away to do the rest of what you want already +hearts you can change your classes by how many pluses you have on a heart and can use more later to change the rest of your levels but a unlimited way such as you suggest would be a easy way to abuse the tr system level a easy class switch to a class that is harder to level then tr.

So not signed but I do want a race change option added.

I'm not following... the toon would always be lvl 1 after the do-over reinc... how do you abuse that to be lvl 20?

Oh in that case umm /not signed at all there is no point like that since you would be better off going on to 20 and TRing and if your low level its just easier to reroll.

I missunderstood you and thought you meant for a higher lvl type option like TR but not quite a full tr.

If he had raid gear he would be better off TRing

what if this was a pre-vale toon with some raid gear he doesn't want to lose and too gimpy to continue to cap due to the drastic change of the game over this entire time?:rolleyes:

No, there is a point, and he clearly expressed it. Perhaps you should go back and re-read the OP.

No he would still be better off TRing if he is going to start over period.

Unless you had 3 of every past life, you'd always be better off TRing. ;-)

This resets the current life back to zero. Honestly, given that you may have repeat penalties on quests, it could be harsh. Still, if you find yourself at level 14 and hating that *whatever* life this is where we are.

Consider you're on Paladin. You'd rather be a bard. At 14 that's 3 + 5hearts, an alignment change, then 3 + 5 hearts again. Even if you felt like dropping the cash, the fact is that's over a month of waiting, remembering, etc.

So sure, "better off" ... but sometimes the amount of irritation is such that you'll essentially shelve a character.

How long does it take you to get a character from 10 to 20? For me, it takes somewhere between 3 months and a year. Not all of us have enough play time or enough of a power-leveling support group to consider leveling to 20 as a "free" action.

You mean it would yield greater numerical benefit. I figure if I had say, a third life that just wasn't doing what I wanted, its entirely likely at say level 15 getting into ugly hard quests I'd rather Mulligan than try to see him out, especially because ,y shorter daily sessions means my first lives normally about pace my guildies 3rd lives, I'd be on a gimp toon for months over a minor benefit, no thanks.
