Hi

Im just about to TR and want to get ranger past life, also as i like elfs i decided to go with this race. This build is also lore thing, dont want to build monkercher as i dont find them fun for myself, want to stay close to pure as possible, just added one monk for feat and ac, and 1 rogue for traps. Please rant this build, is str lvl ups are better than dex, and do i choose good feats/enchantments.

A few points:
1- a single monk level splash for AC is no longer a good idea. You can almost always get more AC now from a light armor than an outfit with only 1 monk level, especially with such a low wisdom score.
2- Assuming the capstone is working properly (which is a big assumption with just about anything in this game), you are giving up a fair amount for 1 feat and trap skills.
3- If that 1 feat is that important to you, have you considered going human instead of elf? If you are hard set on being an elf, I would recommend dropping the monk level for a fighter level, and wearing light armor. You will end up with more AC and PRR.
4- With your skill point distribution, you might end up having some problems with traps, depending on what difficulty you run. If you do keep the rogue splash for trap skills, I would recommend putting enough into intelligence to be able to keep search, disable, and umd maxed out, otherwise it is a bit of a waste.

If you're going elf, drop dexterity to 16. Elves have +2 dex automatically, +3 through ranger enhancements, and another +2 through elf enhancements, on top of +3 from a tome. I'd put the points you got from dexterity into strength. It'll help for both melee and ranged dps. Attack is very easy to get for a ranged character, especially using precision.

Drop the monk level and replace it with fighter. If you're not deeply splashing into monk there's no reason to wear outfits for the centered AC; you're more likely to gain better AC through your dexterity than wisdom with just 1 level of monk and your PRR will be higher with light armor. There are few outfits that would benefit you, while there are plenty of multi-purpose light armors you can wear without needing to remain centered. A fighter level will give you another feat without the whole centered dilemma.

Traps are iffy. While rangers will have a high search and spot and a good open lock, you'll need to really get some gear to be able to disable traps well enough. End-game trapping might not be an option. You might have some trouble with base intelligence, so you might want to put some points into here if you plan on trapping reliably after the lower levels.

Ranger get 6 skill point per level

That allows you to do
- 1 pt for search
- 2 pt for disarm
- 2 pts for open locks

If you invest a little in intelligence
- 2 pts for UMD
- 1 pt for hide
- 1 pt for move silently

With starting int of 12 adn a +2 tome, my ranger (with 1 level of rogue) has maxxed all skills except open locks (missing just a few points), i can handle traps & most locks in EH (of course, i have +5 lockpicks and item +11 to +13 in skills)

So Ranger with one level of rogue can handle traps. But if at some level, you don't have the good equipement, you will fail the traps in Heroic Elite
