View Full Version : Off the wall suggestion: Artificers deconstruct items on the fly?

Don't make this a level 1 feat necessarily, but... an idea I had.

Artificers already have the inherent bonuses to crafting, this is reasonable, and thus no further change is technically necessary.

However, I was thinking that as a matter of convenience, they could eventually gain the ability to deconstruct items anywhere, not just at the deconstruction station.

Like, you're in the middle of a dungeon, you find out you're full on deconstruction trash, so you activate the "Deconstruct Item" feat, and it opens up the decon window, and you put your items in and deconstruct them. It still uses up the deconstruction materials, of course.

Eventually, Artificers could get the ability to summon an entire decon station, which allows other players in the party to do the same.

Just a random thought I had.

Apart from me not liking the build-dependent aspects of crafting as it is, wouldn't this lead to more piking when artis suddenly stand around doing nothing for five minutes while deconning, "sorry guys, forgot to clear inv before starting"?

This suggestion is rife with inherent problems. Let the deconstruction remain in the crafting halls where it will create less lag. (and fewer artis standing around not helping)

Neat idea, but as there's already a store item that allows anyone to do this I doubt we'll see it.

Oh, there is?

Nevermind then :/
