Wouldn't it be awesome if characters could take advantage of high places and jumping skills in order to deal damaged to enemies?

I imagine a feat that, when clicked, gives the character a 10 second window in which to jump at an enemy or use Abundant step at an enemy. The first enemy encountered before the player character hits the ground takes physical damage and, if the character is heavy enough, is knocked down. The damage from this attack would increase with encumbrance (but not be equal to encumbrance, less actually), and the cooldown would be around 1 minute or so. Furthermore, centered monks have a greater add their unarmed dice to the damage and the DC for the knockdown strength check.

I've often thought this would be great for sneaky assassins, as well- many times, they are already maneuvering around for position - but they don't get some added advantage like such a mechanic could give them - like +1d6 dmg or the knockdown you mention or some such... nothing HUGE, just something beneficial.

How about a +2 to the DC for assassinate? Of course, that would require you to be able to assasinate in mid-air... hmm...

I was actually thinking about this the other night too :)

A Jump Attack is great (I was thinking of calling it something like Dive Attack, like you jump sword-first at an enemy). A single-target hit with bonus damage based on your Jump skill, not your weight or anything. I was also thinking about a Tumble-based attack, since Tumble is something most players ignore.

I think there's already a mechanic for a Monk skill that does a pass-through line AOE attack that moves you, right? Tumble Attack could be the same idea, with bonus damage based on your Tumble skill of course...and higher Tumble means you move farther during the attack, too. Maybe Thief-Acrobat PrE could get some bonuses to it, it sounds exactly like how they "should" fight.

I dont think it needs a CC option like KD, though - just the ability to AOE attack while being mobile would make it worthwhile.

Seems like an interesting idea, however, be prepared for mobs to have the same abilities.

Can you imagine them jumping kobolds?
Water Works and the Harbour would take on a new look as you see increased damage coming from those kobolds you see leaping all around you.

That would be AWESOME! :D

I would love to see this. Of course, mobs would have to be subject to the same cooldown as well. Not to mention it would have some sort of animation, so one could still block to reduce the damage.

I think I've spotted the flaw in this idea. . .

What? The one-minute cooldown?
