I love crystal cove I love the loot hell I can deal with the lag but whether I'm on a lowbie alt or on my my Lvl 18 Wiz-Tank it doesn't cease to aggravate when some LvL 25 runs through the area spawning a bunch of epic level Red-Names in my Ice storm who promptly obliterate my party and I.

Even at cap its annoying when a bunch of lower level players cause a bunch of weak mobs to spawn killing any chance of loot.

Lastly your trying to fight some mobs and someone else comes through clearing out what your fighting taking the loot.

This stuff all sounds a bit selfish I know but it effects every person out there regardless of level or build.

Side Request: Please add lower tiered version of the Cannon Runearm

That side of the cove adds emotion and thrill to the event.... all levels side by side!!

I've been there at levels 4 - 7 and avoided trouble by being careful!

This is plain idiotic, to fight over mobs with other players just like in wow or other crappy mmo.

Well said I'd sworn off MMOs because of stuff like that until I discovered DDO which I honestly just played because it had been a while since last PnP session...the instanced nature is glorious and I hate how its always marked as a negative for some reason in reviews

These public events are the only combat areas in ddo that are not instanced. I find that kind of a refreshing change of pace. If you want instanced grab some grog and go run kobold assault. You'll get 10 times as many map pieces as you would in smugglers rest anyway.

In a related story, last night i was running along with a level 18 fighter and i see someone running around who gets killed. I actually tried to save them, but they turned out to be level 4. I guess it's possible that the mob that killed them was spawned by me but i can't be sure. So i umd a raise dead scroll on them, followed by a heal and they say "thanks for getting me killed". Needless to say i won't be raising any strangers i pass anymore.

You just have to pay attention to your surroundings. Hey, people want challenge, being in there on a low to mid level toon is actually dangerous. It should be exciting.

First off yes your most likely the one who got that person killed second challenge is something that is difficult but with persistence or practice can be overcome a bunch of Epic level monsters slaughtering some lowbies is NOT challenge it's bad design.

Lastly if you dislike instanced style gameplay your playing the wrong game. Go play WoW if fighting over limited mobs and getting slaughtered by bored High Level players is your idea of fun

First off if me running by someone gets them killed it's not my fault. I go in there all the time with lower level characters and manage to avoid the big boys pretty easily. That person certainly did something to aggro that mob that killed them because i didn't.

No. Once more, don't like it, don't go there. I run characters of all levels through the cove.

A. It is not hard to avoid lower or higher level spawns. Don't initiate, change map instances, run away. Pretty simple.

B. Punch them regardless. Lower level spawns can still get you mats. I had a lot of fun on my lvl 15 monk beating down CR 23 half orcs.

Seriously, when I see complaints like this for the cove and Mabar, I can't help but think that the craftsmen (i.e., the players) are blaming their tools (i.e., the event). Some events just aren't for some players, and those players need to get over it. I don't whine about the stupid ice festival, and it it far more problematic since it is directly in the public areas causing severe lag. But I'm not going to whine and try to change it for the people that do like jumping for coins.

There ya go. Besides, if it wasn't for us coin jumpers where would all the non jumpers get their icy burst kits?

I totally, completely and utterly agree with you there - it would make it alot more enjoyable and playable for everyone, also it's incredibly annoying (and rude) when some idiot comes through and takes your mob and loot.

I get what your saying but they did try to instance mabar and that didn't exactly turn out to plan...them being able to do this properly would be my biggest concern.

You get the same map pieces, compasses, and doubloons regardless of what level the monster you kill is.

And without other people spawning lower level monsters, you'd have no way of adding those to your monster manual kill list.

And it works the other way as well, you can stretch yourself by going after some higher then usual spawns. Just don't steal from the 'Lords'. Plus I'll throw what buffs I have on anyone I can target. Love getting a bunch of better buffs back.

I wonder if instancing would help with the lag issues people claim to have every festival. I've never had a problem in other quest areas that is unusual during festival times, so I can't really say if it is or isn't, but there is certainly a cry every festival be it cc or mabar to shut it down, their games are unplayable on the forums. Every time they are open.

And I do think instancing would be good. In theory every playing together sounds lovely, but in practice it isn't so lovely. I accidently wiped a group of low level players by walking across the map the other day and spawning big guys on them. I have had people actively following me all over the map to try to snipe my kills. I have accidentally sniped others kills who I couldn't see in the bushes shooting the mob I went after. THe experience leaves something to be desired, and I quit bothering. I have enough dubloons to buy compasses forever, and so I just sit at the doc waiting for everyone else to collect enough map pieces to open the cove. It's not very civic-minded of me, I am fully aware of that, but it's just more pleasant. And a lot of other players are standing around chit chatting doing the same thing for the same reasons. Instancing would definately give me the motivation to go back in and slug it out with the mobs and contribute to the map piece count. And a shrine wouldn't hurt. :)
