View Full Version : Wizard Enchantment Shiradi
I'm very tempted to TR my evoker FvS back into a Wizard. The current state of the game does not seem to favor DC builds and I haven't felt like playing this toon lately. Since I don't plan on grinding 3x sorc past lives, I figured a return to Wizard might be a good idea.
Shiradi seems to be what's up these days, so I thought about doing an evocation/enchantment build. I would like to use all the past lives for something and this seems like a nice match.
Past lives: Wizard x 3, FvS x 1
Feats at cap:
1: Toughness
1: (w) Maximize
3: Past Life: Wizard
5: (w) SF: Evocation
6: Mental toughness
9: Insightful reflexes
10: (w)Quicken
12: GSF: Evocation
15: Spell penetration
15: (w) SF: enchantment
18: Greater Spell penetration
20: (w) Heighten
21: Epic toughness
24: Epic spell penetration/empower
Twists:
4 - Energy Burst
2 - Enchantment specialist
Any comments/suggestions? I would especially like some input from players that have tried Wizards in Shiradi.

That's close to what I currently run with a few differences in feat selection. Where you take Mental Toughness, Epic Toughness, and Epic Spell Pen or Empower, I've taken Extend (more for displacement than anything else), Greater SF:Enchant and Major SF:Enchant.
It's functional, but Shiradi can leave you wondering why you're bothering to play a wizard instead of a sorc.
As far as twists go, Sense Weakness seems to work better with Shiradi than Energy Burst. If you can fit in a third tier 1 twist, Exalted Angel has a tier 1 ability for +10% to your spell point pool.
Hey lycurgus, thanks for the reply. The reason for mental toughness is to qualify for archmage prestige. But yeah, the two epic feats are definitely changeable.
There are two reasons why I went wizard:
1. So I feel like all those past lives aren't "wasted"
2. I already have a sorc, and I will likely tr him into a 18/2 sorc/pally.

Pretty close to how I would do it.
Empower is a must.
But, a few things:
shiradi doesn't have int enhancements meaning your DCs won't be so hot
shiradi doesn't give caster levels meaning your spellpen won't be EE drow ready (you might not care about that)
Taking 3 feats for spell pen might not be worth it...if you can get 35 or so than you can get most everything but EE drow. Should be able to with 3 wiz PLs. Or at least close. It is basically EEdrow or nothing.
As Lyc said, shiradi doesn't really need a lot of feats and your CC won't be all that useful, so sorc with more sp, faster cast rate and wings just seems better...you almost get too many feats as wizard. I'd consider splashing monk or rogue as well, as your DC won't really matter much (just will be spamming).

Sorry, I mistyped. I've kept Mental Toughness and the first 3 slas in both enchant and evocation, but dumped Toughness. Still break 600 hp, and it's the only way to fit in the feats without going human. Here's a link to the build posted several weeks back: http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?t=406699 For the time being, I've kept G.Spell Pen and not taken Empower until acquiring some of the raid gear, and Energy Burst has been replaced with Sense Weakness as a twist.
Your point about making use of the past lives is well taken, and the build can perform well. A lot depends on what content you'll be running. As MrMech indicates, drow are the only reason to take the spell pen feats.

I don't understand the point. Shiradi has built in CC, and you can back it up with plenty of no save CC. THere's no synergy between shiradi and enchantment and you won't be able to do DC casting as well as magister/draconic due to reasons already stated.

That's what I don't understand. If you're going for enchantment DC-casting, then magister is the way to go. Going shiradi will just lower your DC's.

Thanks for commenting Mech, was hoping you would :D.
I hadn't thought about the ed levels for spell pen. In that case you're right, I should drop spell pen feats.
The main reason why I didn't want to go sorc is because I already have a sorc. I thought that the on -demand cc from enchantment would be a nice addition to the shiradi abilities.
Maybe I'll just tr the sorc instead and keep my FvS parked until dc casting sees a brighter day.

Thanks for the reply. My thought was that enchantment would provide a more on-demand cc to the randomness of shiradi.
